Question about Acer Computers & Internet
Computer hard disk error could comes when one of this situations , first damaged hard disk and another could be virus infection on the computer.
Computer virus could delete the MBR and that would cause the error. Run the disk repair if you have one with the computer, run anti virus to remove the virus. If there is disk hardware damage try running good hard disk repair software like Norton Disk doctor, or simple FDISK to repair the damaged boot sector or any bad sectors that the software could detect. Make sure to back up all the data using the CD boot DISK first. In case you need to reinstall the operating system , you could still have data back once the reformating and reinstalling is done.

First and formost ensure you are booting form the correct device.
(when all the text appears on screen at the beginning of the startup sequence push F8 or F12 in order to bring up a list of devices to boot from and choose each one until it does something different. Or if you are feeling clever choose your hard drive from the list if you know which one it is.
If none of those work Chances are you will need to format your hard drive which also means losing all of your documents, settings programs, operating systems and so on.
And then re install an operating system
Most operating systems will have a formatting tool on their install Cd's
(windows vista and windows 7 have those options on the Custom Installation option.Windows XP has that option available during the install process (follow the onscreen prompts)
If this doesnt work you may need to perform a deeper format which physically removes all the data from the drive.
http://dban.org for help and instructions on how to do this.
And finally if none of that works chances are that your hard drive is physically broken and must be replaced.

I hope it's simply a diskette in the diskette drive...
Otherwise, your hard drive may be bad.
If you moved the computer, the power or data cable may have come loose.
Open the case and check the cables. If you find an "extra" power cable in the case, swap that power cable with the one in the hard drive.
