CHAIN SAW QUITS CUTTING AS IT HITS WOOD.

I have a Homelite 33cc 14inch chainsaw. I replaced the thrust washer, the clutch, and spur sprocket. I also put a new chain saw on it. The engine start's well, it will rev up and rotate the chain at high speed. As I go to cut wood the chain stops. If I baby it, it will cut the wood. The chain it getting plenty of oil.

The make, model, and occationally the serial number help us solve your problem.

Does the engine quit running? (Carburator needs adjustment)
Or does it continue running and chain stops? (need clutch refaced or replaced.) (to aggressive a chain for the size of the engine)

I think you replaced parts unnecessarily. Maybe quicker and cheaper to visit your friendly neighborhood chainsaw shop. A good one can repair it even if they do not sell your brand.

What causes the Clutch drum gear that drive the chain to go bad ? my chain eats a groove all the way through it aftr about 12 hrs of cutting I have replaced it 3 times now.

The chain you should be using should be a .325 pitch and not a 3/8.

Never over tighten the chain, it will wear and stretch with time, which is why you should regularly check the chain tension. To get it right you should be able to lift 2 drive links clear of the bar. The chain will naturally wear groves into the spur sprocket, there is no conversion to a rim spricket for this model. Rim sprockets allow the chain to move along the sprocket easier and takes the wear away form the clutch drum.

What is the mix for my Homelite 16" 33cc chainsaw?

50:1 is the fuel to oil ratio. Never use petroleum oil (engine or boat motor oil). Always use a synthetic saw oil available from home centers, hardware stores and saw dealers. The bottles are usually graduated to various ratios for a gallon of fresh gas. Always premix in it's own container and shake the container thoroughly each time just before filling the tank to prevent oil starvation. Be sure to use bar/chain oil for the chain as well, and keep the chain sharp and well adjusted. Hope this helps!

This sounds like you may have the chain brake stuck on. The hand guard is also a chain brake. release the chain brake by pulling backwards on the handle. If this does not fix the issue remove the clutch by pulling the c-clip and retaining washer. I would look at the bar and chain and make sure they are not bent or damaged. ask a local dealer like www.arcolawn.com for parts or tools you may need. Good luck barterjoe_12.png

When I finished cutting up a pile of wood, the saw

"Sound" happy? Was it a rattle IN the engine? Or are you just cleaning where the chain and clutch/sprocket and bar are? There's usually 2 nuts that hold that cover on and an adjustment screw for chain tension facing forward. If it's a newer model that has a kick back/brake on it, it might just be that you have to pull the handle back to release the brake. It's a band that goes around the clutch (inside the cover).

Jambed brake

Hello Brian; Why do you want to? You may never get it back together. The IPL is probably as good an illustration as you will find. Enlarge it enough to make the detail visible. There is a chain brake kit available that might include some instructions but no promises (brake dragging? try changing the clutch bearing). This is as detailed as it gets. Contact Homelite and they will likely tell you to take to a service center.

A drop down list appears; self explanatory from here. cursor down to "Ranger 33cc 16" Chain Saw UT-10926". "Clutch - Hand Guard - Drive Case Cover" detail.

Open the gas tank then reach something inside the tank. You will feel a small fuel line in there. Try to fish out the loose end of the line and you'll find a fuel filter on the end of it. Clean it or replace it and then try to start it again.

Chain not engaged when the chainsaw is running and brake is off

If the brake is not engaged the only thing it could be is the clutch, or the bar. If the bar is burnt or bent from the chain failing off then you will have this problem. But this sounds more like a clutch problem
