Troy-Bilt Hedge trimmer TBAH The part that connects the gear housings is not shown on Parts diagram. It is in two pieces and is held together with a rubber "O"ring. Any suggestions

  • Elainecherub Sep 09, 2009

The part I require is worn out and no longer holds the the gear box together. It is NOT shown in the Parts diagram that is in the Operator's Manual or any other Parts diagram that are provided on the internet. The Model is as you correctly state TBAH 41AJAH-C711.

The gear housings I refer to are made up of four parts:- Item #3 753-04654 Housing (L), Stick and Item #16 753-04667 Housing (R), Stick which attach to Item #23 753-04674 Housing (L), Blade and Item # 25 753-04676 Housing (R), Blade

The required part as I stated is in two pieces, they fit over bearing # 18 located between Item #10 753-04661 Washer and Item # 38 753-04840 Washer. The two parts are held in place with a rubber "O" ring.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

    Thanks.

If you see no connecting bolts and no mounting bolts then this piece is pressed together. Make sure you have removed the mounting bolts that hold the piece to the Trimmer as sometimes they use the mounting bolts to hold two pieces together to reduce weight.

I am not sure which gear housing you are referring to. I put a link here to a page showing the diagram for the Troy-Bilt TBAH 41AJAH-C711. I do not know if this is the same model you have but it clearly shows the gear housings and all the attachment points. If this is not the the same model you have please include that info. Or if you are referring to how the trimmer attaches to the drive unit please include that model#
It would also be helpful to know exactly what you are trying to do with it. Thanks

  1. Replace carb or,
  2. Overhaul carb or,
  3. Try one of the new "on-engine" carb cleaner-solvent kits which are available at most auto parts stores.
I've never tried one of these kits so I don't know if they actually work, or are just another marketing "pretty face!"

Replacing the pull cord on my Troy Bilt blower/vac (TB320BV), & I can't get the nut off the crankshaft extension, the last thing keeping me from the starter housing. I've tried clasping the flywheel...

Same problem here. After snapping a couple fins off the flywheel trying to lock it with a screwdriver, I had an idea that worked quite well.I used an oil filter wrench (designed like pliers) Item #36778 at harbor freight. The thin design held the flywheel well (very tight fit,had to force past the plastic housing) while I used a socket and power handle.Worked for me and used it when torquing the crankshaft extension nut tight again.

Several small engine dealers have parts for Troy Bilt but here is one site that will give you your part numbers and an idea of the costs you are looking at. Good luck!

Line stuck inside head of troy-bilt trimmer

Take an awl or small diameter screw driver, same size or a bit smaller dia. than the line dia., and push it through the hole from the outside of the line head. This should push the piece of old line through the hole.
Recommendation: Leave at least one inch of line on the inside of the head, so you can grab it easily when you have to replace the line. I'll carry a pair of long nose pliers on me when I use my trimmer, so I can easily grab hold of the inside piece to pull it through.

Troy-Bilt Trimmer TB425CS

Sound like the clutch is going out or already is bad. There should be a cone shape cover that attaches the engine to the handle. Usually with 4 screws. Take those screws out and seperate the housing. There is a small centrifugal clutch, which is probably bad.
