I am unable to boot the system, even it is not displaying the BIOS also.

3 reasons....either could be correct...
1 - RAM card is corrupt...change RAM card...(remove the exsiting RAM card and clean and replace the same...look for them on the bottom of the notebook)
2 - OS is corrupt, need to re-install OS....if u r on WindowsXP then I have a clear solution....let me know...
3 - Screen is out...(LCD screen is out or the backlite inside the screen is out or the inverter board inside the LCD panel is out)

The screen on my TI-83 Plus says, "RAM cleared" and won't do anything. It has the curser after I press "ON", but won't do anything else. I tried holding clear, holding ON, hitting it, etc. Can anyone...

When the calculator is turned ON, power to refresh the RAM is supplied by the main batteries. However, when it is OFF, the RAM relies on the backup battery to keep itself refreshed.
If you get the RAM CLEARED message whenever you turn calculator ON, it most certainly is due to a depleted backup battery. You will have to replace the backup battery.

To avoid losing anything important from RAM (what do I say, you are already losing the contents of the RAM), make sure that main batteries are still good, then replace the backup battery.

You can verify the state of the main batteries in a battery tester or by connecting the calculator to the computer with TI USB Silver cable and TI Connect software. If you run into problem such as calculator not recognized it is most probably due to weak batteries.

When you connect it to computer try updating the OS if OS version is not 1.19.

Dell 966 has job stuck in que. unable to clear or print other jobs.

Try taking the printer offline, deleting the stuck print job as well as the other jobs. Then, open the Services applet & restart the Print Spooler service. This would clear the error.

Can not get it to start up after putting in all five new batteries. screen is full of wierdness but will turn on/off.

Where that ''weirdness'' is coming from, I cannot say, but you can press the CLEAR key to clear the screen. Reset the calculator Ram.
Press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset][ENTER]. Press [CLEAR] to erase the "Ram Cleared" message.

Make it a habit to exit thid-party programs/games after each use. They have a tendancy to get stuck in RAM, thus preventing you from using your calculator.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for rating the solution.

The calculator will not work and won't let me type anything. The only thing on the screen is a cursor and it is not blinking.

What kind of cursor? Is it checkered? If it is the memory is full that is why you cannot type anything anymore.
  1. Delete games,
  2. clear all lists [2nd][MEM][4:ClrAllLists][ENTER.]
  3. Clear entries [2nd][MEM][3:Clear Entries][ENTER.]
  4. If that is not enough reset Ram [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram] [2:Reset][ENTER]. Clear the Ram Cleared message.
Hope it helps

When trying to graph anything, ERR: INVALID DIM appears..

The easiest and quickest way to start graphing is to reset the RAM. Press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset], then [CLEAR] to clear the RAM Cleared Message and go to the main screen.
Hope it helps.

Unable to strart windows

Clear Real Time Clock (RTC) RAM by way of the jumper. This jumper allows you to clear the RTC RAM in CMOS. To clear RTC RAM :
  1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the chassis.
  3. Remove the on-board battery.
  4. Move the jumper cap from pins 1-2 (default) to pins 2-3 for about 5-10 seconds, then move the cap back to pins 1-2.
  5. Reinstall the battery.
  6. Plug the power cord and turn on the computer.
  7. Hold down the <DEL> key during the boot process and enter BIOS setup to re-enter data.
  8. Start setup again and make sure your setup disc is not corrupted.
