Question about Behringer DJx700 5-Channel Pro DJ Mixer with Digital Effects & Bpm Counter

Crossfader Selectors scratchy

I think I might have a similar issue with my DJX700....

I noticed when recording that I would get intermittent crackling and it seemed to be got round by selecting different channels for the cross fader.

I thought it might be the cross fader at first but then I noticed that as I moved Assign A or B around the indicator LEDs would not follow the selection e.g. as I switch A from 2 to 1 the LED would zip from 2 to 4 to 1 etc and ths was accompanied by a similar crackling noise.

I've tried electrical solvent in the selectors but it doesn't make any difference.

I'm now stuck with the x-fader assignment in a useless configuration to avoid the crackling which is a shame as the mixer is blinding considering its relatively low price.

Has anyone any further experience of this?

I had hoped I could find some help on the Behringer site but there is no similar topic and the search for service centres in Great Britain returns a company in Germany!

If I make any progress I'll repost......

The sliders all operate cleanly on this mixer - including the xfader itself. It is just when the xfader selectors are on particular settings and switching between settings that the crackle appears.

Does anyone have any further ideas?

I have heard back from Behringer - they accept it seems to be a problem but are directing me to a service centre (Germany remember?)

What I could really do with is an idea of what I should check and replace.

The sliders on MOST of the mixer devices are pretty weak. They are subject to dirt or liquid getting into the slot and spoiling them. Fix is to replace them. You usually can find replacements at Digikey or Mouser that are suitable. The parameters are the resistance, the packaing and the length of throw AND importantly the "taper" of the resistance element.

HOw do you use the crossfader if all your music is coming through one port???

The crossfader is to gently fade from one source to another. If you only have one, the crosfader isn't useful... it would act like a plain fader with one side being dead and the other at full volume.

There is a scratchy sound when the overdrive is engaged. Its not a hiss but a scratchy sound that is noticeable when you hit a cord or note and its fading out

There likely is a component failure. Possibly an electrolytic capacitor. Also low voltage due to failing power adapter or depleted battery would cause this. Do NOT count on LED for battery health..

I hooked up my Mackie MR5 Monitors to my MacBook Pro through an audio interface, I use it to record my band in the studio I use out of my basement. Except everytime I try to use the monitors they give me...

try hooking headphones to the output and see if the crackling is still there.

then, try it with the speakers, at a lower computer voume level and higher speaker volume level. perhaps the headphone output is too loud and distorting in the speaker inputs.

Im thinking about buying a djx750 and have rokit 5 monitors. would this work? what is the best way to connect them, to have good sound? it is just for a home dj setup, all on one desk, two cd decks,...

Here is alink to the manual: You should have no problems hooking them up (RCA to RCA). I've been using a Behringer XenyX1222FX board in my recording system for about 4 years now and have been quite satisfied with it's reliability. Try to find a dealer who will demo the mixer for you.

I think my crossfader stop working for some reason. when im on side B i get sound then i slide over to side A and i still get sound from side be,,, all the assign are right also the bass mid and hi kill...

I suspect one end of the crossfader pot has broken from the element. The fader probably costs less than $5.

You likely will have to remove all the knobs and some screws to seperate the board with the fader from the front panel so you can replace the fader.

VERIFY the pot is bad with an ohmmeter before dis-assembling however.

You MAY be in luck. It looks like the cross fader has a connector which MIGHT allow you to remove it or certainly only a small board for replacement, seeing these take abuse.

It appears that the cross fader is a dual 100K type B taper.

A trip to your local Radio Shack should solve your problem with the purchase of a mini phone jack to double RCA type (red and white) leads cable.

Jack into the audio out of your Macbook and into the input of your choice on the mixer with the RCA jacks and you are good to go.

Problem with djx700 possible overheating

Sounds like an electrolytic capacitor that has faulty electrolyte. Look for the culprit in the power supply area. It looks like a can covered in usually light or dark blue plastic. It's end may have developed a 'bulge.' This usually occurs with capacitors around 10 years of age or heavily used over a long duration, or under very hot conditions.

You may also want to make sure all solder joints in the power supply are good.
