How do i erase data?

I was given a used sandisk sdmx1 with no instructions and it has voice records that I do not need or want. Is there a way to erase them? I'm usually good with electronics, but for some reason, every time i try to erase a voice memo, i wind up recording a new one :(... Please Help!!

Radio for Sandisk model SDMX1

Press the AB button to toggle between Audio Play, Radio, and Voice Record. Use the left/right scroll to highlight Radio. Then press the center button or play/pause button once to select radio.

You will see FM Radio in the upper left corner of the display. Under that you will see either Preset followed by a number OR Channel. If it is on Preset, you can use the left/right scroll to switch between preset stations. If you press and hold the AB button, the player will scan through all frequencies to find the strongest stations in your area and set those as the default preset stations. When on a particular station, press and hold the record button to delete that station from your presets.

Press the center button once to switch to Channel (or back to Preset). Under Channel, you can manually scroll through the frequencies yourself. Push left or right and hold for about a second to find the next available station.

Press the play/pause button once to toggle between Mono and Stereo.

Those are all the functions I've found so far. Hope it helps.

Good luck,

Hit format & it wiped everything from mp3 player

Once the format selection has been pressed, it is next to impossible to recover the lost files. You would have to call a data recovery expert, and the cost would probably be in the neighborhood of $300 to $600 dollars - if it is even possible. I have searched far and wide for detailed instructions on recovering such data, and the problem is that the software you need to perform such a recovery costs hundreds of dollars.

When I was a kid, I used the format command on an old IBM PCJr, and ended up erasing my favorite game. It happens to the best of us.

Volume Control

First go to and download the instructions for this particular mp3 player. I'm guessing it's the SDMX1. Look for this model and get the instructions. They're about 30 plus pages. Volume is adjusted very easily-Look at your SDMX1 with the data screen to your right and headphone plug to the right.
1.find the joystick control-it sticks up and is chrome plated.
2.imagine it is a compass with North-up
3.simply move the joystick North for louder volume and South for lower volume. can also read the volume numbers on the screen in the right lower quadrant. they go from 1-40. Good luck.
If you ever have headphone problems with sound from only one earphone, let me know. I know how to fix this better than new! Also, if the play-on/off switch becomes hard to operate, this fix is also very simple.
