You have a shorting membrane keypad. If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

Please feel free to contact me directly with your brand and full model number from the tag on / in the unit and more specific details of the trouble you're having so we can help you with free do-it-yourself tips and/or an estimate.

NOTE: The FixYa system is not currently notifying me when folks reply to my posts, so please contact me directly for more help.

Why Auto fan seems to go on prematurely

Hi,

The vent fan comes on if your steaming or creating heat unit it to protect the control unit. So I assume this was happening when the fan came on? I hope this answers your question. When this happens the unit will turn off when it cools down all by itself.

My microwave has the ligt own it when you open the door but it want let me do anything when i touch the number own the front

If the light comes on when you open the door then the door switch seems to be ok and the fuse should be ok also so it almost comes down to the keypad itself. It may be a loose keyboard connection or the keyboard itself is faulty.
If you are not too familiar with electrical products, I would suggest calling a repairman because there is very high voltage inside a Microwave.

My daughter put a metal ring in the microwave to heat up. I was not there, so I did not know what happen and if sparks flared up. But the microwave kept working OK for half a day before acting crazy. ...

There really shouldn't be a correlation between the metal ring in the oven cavity and the erratic operation of the control board. Although it might seem suspicious, what happens inside the oven cavity stays in the oven cavity.

I have a GE JVM1190 Microwave Oven. It's sounds

It's cooking when it shouldn't, but the internal cooling fan is not running, so the magnetron is overheating, which can kill it.

Then when it gets hot enough, it trips the magnetron's thermostat, interrupting all power to the microwave. When it cools, it comes back on.

If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.

So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and of course one should never leave a microwave unattended while cooking.

The problem is almost certainly that the power relay on your control circuit board is shorted.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one-year guarantee.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more free information & help.

GE Microwave Profile Spacemaker Runs on its own

Your microwave turning on by itself is a "self preservation feature" of the GE Profile Advantium and maybe some other models. Read the manual, When your over the range oven gets warm enough, for whatever reason the venting fan comes on until a satisfactory oven temperature is reached. You are not permitted to shut the vent fan off. Also it seems a temperature near room temp must be achieved before it shuts the fan motor off, it is very annoying. We had to return our Advantium because of fan noise. I configured the ovens vent fan to the recirculate direction because we do not have a vent duct that exits the house over our range. When the vent fan acting as the ovens cooling fan automatically turned on we would have to leave the house to hear each other talk. Too bad we really liked the oven other than that major problem. 3 microwave ovens in 18 months - all won't heat up - what is causing the recurring problem?

Carla, Sorry to read of your troubles. Your unit that is only 2monts old should be under warranty, or did you receive any warranty?
What you describe as " the noise one gets when metal is put in by mistake". The noise is Arcing of Microwave Energy. Do not operate a Microwave Oven DRY (without something inside that will absorb the Microwave Energy. A Dry-Run Microwave Oven will feed-back upon itself and do damage.

If your unit is matched to the electric needs, both voltage and cycles, then I would not get another one of the same Model.
