Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
Our Acer computer laptop has a beautiful screen, however it has never worked!! We've had it over a year and all it says on the screen is "shutting down". Both the battery and charger lights are green ... we have been told by Verizon that it is incompatible with their mobile system and therefore of little use to us as a mobile computer. It is impossible to boot up, it is impossible to do anything with. It is brand new and useless. Should we just throw it away??? Please pass this message on to the President of the company and send same to him directly if we cannot get any satisfaction.
Yeah- good luck with that. If you have a pre existing trouble with the laptop and have repeated calls that are logged you may be able to get some satisfaction.
I'm guessing it's trying to run Vista? right? probably has 512 or less ram and is a stripped down model with the minimum standards to actually RUN vista. If nobody has actually suggested it- I would highly recommend trying to reload the operating system using the cd's that probably did not ship with the laptop. Seems manufacturers expect you to make your own cd's from the restore partition in the interest of saving themselves a few bucks.
If it's out of warranty- and they will do nothing for you- take it to a LOCAL computer shop that you can trust not to rip you off and get their opinion. An honest computer repair shop will only usually charge a minor fee to have a look at it- any more than that and you are getting ripped off. A diagnostic might save you a lot of money and frustration. If it's truly messed up you can always try selling it on E-bay as is.
