Question about Philips 7FF1M4 (7FF1M437) Digital Picture Frame

Open Question

Does the Philips 7FF1M4 Digital Picture Frame accept SDHC cards? I purchased a SanDisk SDHC 4GB card. I downloaded a picture in .jpg format from my Windows Vista machine onto the card. When I plugged the card into the Photo Frame and touched one of the buttons on the back, the Frame went black and the whole systems locked up. Locked up to the point that turning it off did not even turn off the green power light on the back. I took out the card, hit the reset button, and powered back up. The internally stored pictures that had been on the frame earlier reappeared (thankfully). Is is the problem that this old PhotoFrame can't handle a high density card? Thanks.

Hopefully you can just download the instructions using this link (http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/9/9ff2m4_37/9ff2m4_37_swm_eng.pdf).
If that doesn't work for some reason, go to the Phillips support site below:

SOURCE: i just bought a digital

I'm pretty sure this means that you have filled up the internal memory on the picture frame.
I just bought my sister a photoframe for Christmas (made by Phillips) and we got the same message. Not the most precise wording on the error message, but we tried deleting a few photos and the error went away. Then I checked the internal memory of the frame, and it is only 128M, which is not alot of photos.
I think the solution will be to buy a USB memory stick to leave in the frame. For about $10 you can get a 4G USB memory stick, which is about 32 times the space of the internal memory, at least if you have a similar model as we do.

SOURCE: I have a Phillips 10FF2

This sounds like the firmware is corrupt, and not allowing this function. If this is the case, you will have to contact Phillips to see what course of action can be performed. If the unit is still under warranty, push for an exchange. Otherwise, see if they will assist you in correcting this problem. I read the manual on this unit, and it had no provisions for reloading the firmware, so this would have to be performed by Phillips.
In case you have lost your manual, here it is: l

SOURCE: I bought a SanDisk 16

This camera only takes SD cards up to 2GB. The 16GB card you bought is an SDHC card...it will not work in the camera.

When i put sdhc card the frame is not working

The problem is that your Digital Picture Frame is only compatible with SD cards, not SDHC cards. You bought a larger card for your Digital Picture Frame, not noticing that it was SDHC (or not knowing that it mattered). The new card doesn't work, not because it or the Digital Picture Frame is broken, but because it's not compatible.

Cards up to 2Gb are generally SD.
Cards of 4Gb are generally SDHC.
Cards over 8Gb have to be SDHC.

(There are exceptions. Sometimes, manufacturers make 4Gb SDHC cards but some have errors; they disable half of the chip and sell it as 2Gb, but it's still SDHC. 4Gb cards are almost always SDHC because they're cheaper, but 4Gb SD cards do exist. They are so rare that I've even seen a guru on this site claim they don't. I did own one once, but it was very expensive and turned out to be so unreliable that I had to return it. I don't recommend looking for one, because of the problems.)

Your solution is to go find a 2Gb card, and be extra sure that it doesn't say "SDHC" on it.

Will this frame take an SDcard?

Yes, it will take an SD card. Be careful, however, not to use an SDHC card. While an SDHC card will fit into the slot, it is electronically incompatible and will not work in the frame.

On the side of the SDHC memory card is a sliding lock I have a diagram to show where this is and which direction to push the slider. Here is the diagram.

Also to make the SDHC work compatible with your camera you need to format the memory card. Each time you download the picture files the memory card needs to be formatted, never format in the computer and expect the card to work in the camera.

It will not format a 4gb SanDisk SD card

Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card. The DX6490 works with SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to go with SD cards 2GB and smaller.

A 4GB memory card will be an SDHC type. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but many cameras won't work with the SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

How do I get the smartparts digital wood frame 7.0 to accept sd 4gb card? It just says no card when I insert it.

That frame cannot accept an SDHC 4GB memory card. Try something SD like a 2GB or 1GB and you should be fine. SDHC is not backwards compatible with all digital devices.

I put pictures on a san disk sdhc memory card unformatted & formatted the card is 4gb won't play on my kodak sp-dpf56e picture frame why?

I couldn't find very specific information about your picture frame. I did find out it is from a company called Smart Parts and it is not a Kodak frame.

If I had to guess, I would say that the frame is not SDHC compatible. What this means is that it only will work with cards up to 2gb (SD).

I saw a review site (http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews115912.html) that had a lot of reviews about how the frame does not like to read jpgs from the SD cards so this could be the issue if the one above is not.

My recommendation would be to try to use a 2gb card. If that does not work, try loading the pictures onto the frame directly from the computer.
