Does the adjustment knob have any play when you turn it? If it does or feels loose, it's possible that the molded plastic seat that engages the gear may have broken. This is inside and can't be seen from the outside. The knob would have to be removed to check. Assuming this is what happened, a new knob can be ordered and installed.

I have a Toyota RS2000 the stitch selection knob cracked I have ordered a new one which I have received but the knob will not tighten onto the switch selection shaft because metal strip is missing inside...

I have the same problem. I found the little metal piece down inside the machine. Shake the machine and see if you hear a little rattle. It might be that little metal piece. Bad design on that selector knob, for sure.

I turned the stop motion knob in order to wind a bobbin and the knob fell off! I have tried to put in back together but now only the knob will move not the balance wheel. As as result the clutch will not...

There should be a washer that fits over the balance wheel, if you dont put that back on the machine wont work.
Check around and see if it fell off when you removed the knob, or check to see if it is stuck inside the knob.

The washer is about 1" in diameter with a couple little tabs on it.
It will only work when installed correctly so if at first you fail just turn the ****** over!
