You need to get the norton removal tool first.
make sure norton is removed. (completely)
then you should get the microsoft removal tool
intall and run that and then select the mcafee programs.
niether of those programs make it to my security listing and this is one of the many reasons why.
If you have anything that can clean the registry now is the time to do it.
If not try Registry mechanci install and run.
It may find quite a bit and take some time but thats fine
Make sure you let it make a backup.
Once thats done you should be able to install Norton 360.
There are much better products available than Norton and Mcafee
Those names are no longer as effective as they used to be and both can actually slow computers down considerbly.
Better antivirus are Kaspersky, AVG, ESET, SOPHOS just to name a few
For added protection Superantispyware, Malwarebytes, Webroot should be used. thos and the antvirus can work rogether to provide musch mor protection than the two you are using.

May be better for your purpose as it is FREE and does quite a good job
The others require purchase and only deal with limited items until you buy the whole package (still worthwhile)
Juts make sure you do a backup first before doing the clean.
