I would also be helpful if you were to indicate make and model............however, let us soldier on.... Unplug machine....Remove the base and while pressing the reverse lever identify where the connecting rod attaches....add a little lubricant at the point of seizing. This may need several applications...possibly over several days in extreme cases. Causes are usually lint and oil forming a "glue" or mild corrosion. Jiggle the stiff joint or collar manually to ease it more free and keep this routine going until it resolves..... If it is still sluggish, rubbing alcohol directed on the joint (sparingly) while jiggling may assist the disolving of any "clag" Sometimes it is never fully resolved and even if it seems to come good, if you do not keep it moving regularly into the future it will continue to be a problem.

ACTIVA 210 WON'T DO REVERSE STITCH

If your Activa 210 sewing machine is not performing the reverse stitch function, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue:
1. Incorrect stitch selection: Ensure that you have selected the correct stitch that includes a reverse stitch. Some stitches, particularly decorative or specialty stitches, may not have a reverse option. Check your machine's manual to identify the stitches that offer reverse functionality.
2. Mechanical issue: There could be a mechanical problem preventing the reverse stitch function. Check if there is any lint, debris, or thread buildup in the reverse stitch lever or mechanism. Clean the area carefully with a soft brush or use compressed air to remove any obstructions that may be hindering the reverse stitch mechanism.
3. Stitch length setting: Verify that the stitch length is not set to zero. If the stitch length is at its minimum, it may prevent the reverse stitch function from engaging. Increase the stitch length slightly and try again.
4. Incorrect machine operation: Ensure that you are following the correct procedure to engage the reverse stitch. Typically, you would need to press and hold down a lever or button while sewing to activate the reverse stitch. Refer to your machine's manual for the specific instructions on how to engage the reverse stitch.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact a professional sewing machine technician or the manufacturer's customer support for further assistance. They will be able to provide specific guidance and help diagnose any potential mechanical issues with your Activa 210 sewing machine.

Brother sewing machineXR3774 runs in reverse help! I HAVE TAKEN APART AND OILED IT.And I dusted it. still in reverse can anyone help?

I am not a sewing machine expert. As far as I know all sewing machines have a reverse "gear" for sewing in both directions and most commonly was a linkage that reversed the direction of the cloth feed dog.
The old hand or treadle operated machines could be reversed simply by the operator turning the handle in reverse...

I know nothing about modern sewing machines but I wouldn't be surprised to discover the traditional AC motor and rheostat has been replaced by a reversible DC motor with electronic speed control as is currently fashionable with everything from cordless drills to washing machines. If this is the case, reverse "gear" would be by a switch reversing the polarity of the current supplied to the motor.

I think you need to do a little research to discover how your machine should work before you begin asking why it doesn't work.

I just replaced the motor on this machine and when started it only sews in reverse. To get it to sew forward, I have to push reverse lever down.

The motor may have to be reversed. The reverse action of a sewing machine is the feed below the needle is reversed not the machine.

Where is reverse button

Depends on the make & model of your machine. Would be best to consult the owner's manual. Mechanical and computerized machines also vary. Mechanical machines usually have a stitch length lever that, when pushed all the way up, will reverse stitch, or there is a button usually marked with an R or an arrow. Computerized machines usually have a button marked by a U-shaped arrow.

Of course, if you have a vintage sewing machine, it may not even have a reverse stitch. Instead, to sew in reverse, one would have to sink the needle into the fabric, raise the presser foot and swivel the fabric 180 degrees, drop the presser foot and stitch.

To find a copy of the owner's manual, search the internet for:

Brother AE2500 reverse sewing lever is too stiff to move , how does this work please, bacause in the CD provided with this sewing machine , this lever (plastic) for doing reverse is being moved down t

Try turning the flywheel and operate the reverse lever at the same time. Some machines need to be at a certain point in the stitch cycle for the reverse lever to be used.

I have a husgvarna Designer1and the reverse botton is not lighting up and is not going in reverse

The reverse button doesn't light up until the feed dogs reverse their rotation (feed rearward). The problem probably relates to the drive thats shifts the linkage to reverse the feed dogs (although it could be the linkage itself is out of wack). In any case, I doubt that you are doing anything wrong or that this is something you can fix yourself.

Machine won't go into reverse

What model machine are we talking about here? If it is a Designer 1, Reverse doesn't show up on the screen. You need to hit the Reverse button twice in succession, the button stays lit up, and the machine should sew in reverse until you hit Reverse again or change stitch.

When a reverse arrow shows on the screen, it is usually when a programmable stitch is selected and you need to hit Reverse to complete the programmed task.

Get back with more detail on your machine and the problem, and maybe I can offer some more specific help.
