1978, 25hp, johnson sputters and will stop some of the time.

It was running good then started to actup, ran good for the first 30 years.

Mate.Without much info,if it started to splutter and carryon,you may have got a bad dose of fuel.If it sat for a while with a low fuel level,condensation can build up.This would be the line I would look at first.A small fuel blockage would also make it play up.The 25 is an almost bulletproof motor.Check its not getting hot with an old water pump impeller.Without to much info its a bit hard to give you a great answer,but I hope this helps

It sputters and belches out large clouds of blue smoke


mine recommends using only detergent oil rated API service classification SG-SL. Sounds like an older model and the synthetic may be to thin. Try changing the oil to a SAE 30 to see.

2007 suzuki forenza- running fine stopped 30 min and then It cranks and cranks, sputtered a few times but wont start.


You did not post the year make and model but this sounds like an ignition problem and it could be a lot of things. The most common is the crank shaft sensor.

a thought you may want to remove the fuel filter and see if it is blocked if you cant do this yourself a simple test can be performed a fuel pump pressure test if your fuel filter is good you may have a week fuel pump if this was helpful please leave me good feedback

Runs good shut off for a few minutes restart runs terrible engine spits and sputters


A bad fuel pump may cause a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9l to run for a few minutes and just shut off without sputtering. It can also be that the fuel pressure regulator (on top of fuel pump assembly) is stopped up. Just rerplaced fuel filter and it ran fine for about 30 minutes, then started to spit and sputter like it was running out of gas. could this be vapor lock?


Its likely the fuel pump Ihave a 96 blazer and had to do mine last year they ware out and this one is no fun to do good luck

ck for water in carb bowl. also ck for filter in gas tank, or something in gas tank.
