Continuous blinking of indicator on the DVD-RW drive indicates that the drive has frozen or hardware malfunctioning has occurred.

Disconnect the DVD-RW from the Computer and check whether the power cable and the data cable are fully operational. You may also try using different cables.

Install the DVD-RW into the Computer and check if the disc tray is ejected. If not, then use a sharp pointed pin to push hardly straight in the hole located on the front panel of the drive.

If the DVD tray doesn't open and the the indicator keeps on blinking then the issue is related to internal hardware malfunctioning and service will be required.

Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with the others - your DVD/RW drive needs to be replaced.

Try attaching the drive to another CPU and I suspect that will confirm it.

Unfortunately, the drive will need to be replaced, since there is a mechanical problem. It's tough, I know. It'll cost around $100 for this drive. I've never looked into repairing the drive, but I imagine it would not be cost-effective.

Just thought I'd ask - is your system still under warranty ? If so, call your manufacturer - I'm not certain if this is covered, tho.

Well, it may have got jammed. so try this trick.....
If you look at the dvd/rw drive..on the side of the button of the drive...you will find a very tiny hole so take a paper pin and insert it in the tiny hole if the drive is opened great!!! otherwise get it replaced as the dvd/rw drives are not costly thesedays..

The DVD tray doesnt eject

either it is the ribbon wire, the motor that ejects the tray or the belt that connect the tray and motor is the problem. In case the above three are fine, replace the drive as the sparking might kill your moterboard.

Pc died

Hello, I have had similar problems with that same motherboard in the past and have found that resetting the cmos (see users manual) or just taking the battery of the motherboard for a few minutes can solve this. CAUTION please remove the power lead on your tower before touching any components inside, and earth yourself first by touching metal.. as static discharge kills pc components..
Hope this helps.....

I have a Asus computer and my cd/dvd rw stop working. I can't watch dvd's or listen to any cd's I need to know what's up with my cd/dvd multi-recorder

First try a system restore back to the last date which you remember that it worked. If that doesnt help, you must find out what cd/dvd burning software is in your computer. It may have been corrupted. Oddly enough, you don't need drivers for the CD/DVD drives. They aren't even recognized unless you have a good non-microsoft burning program. Find out what burning software you have--download Belarc Advisor, a free program (Google it) which not only tells you everything in your computer, with model and serial numbers for hardware and all of your software (with their unique codes), but will also inform you if you are missing any needed Windows updates. Once you know what you have, if it came with the computer, you have to seek an upgrade at the computer manufacturer's website, as it may be a special program not related to the burning software purchased from the software manufacturer---go to their website for upgrades.

LG DVD Drive

the scsi and raid refers to sata hard drives or ide in a raid configuration. the dvd drive if on a cable on its own should be set at master, if on a cable with another drive then set it at slave, cable select doesnt always work as the motherboard cannot identify the ide source. Youe DVD drive will be listed in device manager under cd/dvd drives, click the + sign and if it's listed there, right click it and select uninstall. Restart the pc and see if it's reinstalled automatically, it should do, then be ready for use, if you still cannot see it in my computer check the drives ide cable and swap the drives over if necassary, if still not showing the drive needs to be replaced.
