Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

Garage shuts partially and then reopens and the light flashes.

I know this is a sensor problem. I have cleaned them, reaimed them and made sure they are clear. The green light is solid on the receiving sensor and the light is solid on the other although it is a yellow light. I still cannot get it to work.

MOST doors ALSO have pressure sensors that detect the force exerted on the door and shut down if excessive. Broken or weak counterbalance springs cause trips of this sensor and OFTEN one must adjust the sensitivity of them. IF there are adjustments for this, they are on the head motor area.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Sometimes the sensors will be pointed at one another just enough to turn the small light on but if you look real close you can see it flickering every so slightly. Tweak them just a bit.

Garage door opener not working

Sensor must show steady light to close circuit and let opener work. If aligned, then there is a loose or broken wire. Try reaiming first to get steady light. Then check all wires . Another way to test and prove that is the issue is if u hold down the wired button at ur back door and the opener closes, then it is sensor issue. Good luck.

Make sure the door sensors are pointed at one another. Each of them has a small light that should come on when they are correctly pointed at one another. If you cannot get both light to come on you have bad sensors.

I have the chamberlain garage door opener. the door will not shut. the door travels to about 8 inches above the floor and then reopens. the door is just over one year old and has worked well up...

The sensor colors are correct. Try wiping the little eye sensors that point at each other for one thing and make sure there isn't something protruding from door that's coming into the patty of electric sensors.

Garage door will close with the wall pad but when the remove or key pad is used the door reopens. How is this fixed?

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses to the open position it is your door sensors. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not flickering. Tweak them a bit. If you cannot get both lights to come on you have a bad sensor.

Door will not stay down

If the door is hitting the floor, pausing and then reopening you need to adjust the down limit on the side of the motor unit.

The garage door closes and then the door reopens.

If the door is hitting the floor and then opening it is traveling to far. Locate the 'down limit' on the side of the motor unit and turn this control a bit in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will probably be necessary.

My garage door opener has power but it doesn't work, sensors got power too, at times it seams to work but it only goes in one direction

If the GDO will only open the door, it could still be the door sensors. They may be slightly out of alignment, or there may be some spiderwebs or debris blocking the sensors. Readjust them by eye.
An easy way to tell for sure is to close the door, if it does not move or goes part way and reopens (caused by the sensors) the light on the GDO will flash 5 times to let you know the sensors have been activated.
On the older machines, there used to be a plug where the wire connected to the sensor. They would corrode due to dampness/moisture. If it is the older style with the plug, replace the sensors.
Also, if the sensors are to blame for your problem. pushing and holding the wall button will close the door fully.
Good luck.

Garage door partially closes then reopens

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Each of the sensors has a small light that must be lit for them to operate properly and they must be pointed directly at one another. If you cannot get both lights on you may have a bad sensor. If the main light does not flash 10 times when the door reverses you either have a bad RPM sensor board which is a small printed circuit board just in front of the motor or your 'down force' control may need to be increased. This is a control on the rear of your motor unit near where all those white wires go. Increase it about 1/4 turn and try.
