Dell Inspiron 1501 will not boot

Recently, while using my dell laptop, my laptop would update itself. The screen would read configuring updates stage 1 of 1,and so on until it reached stage 3 of 3. Then one day a screen that read configuring updates stage 3 of 3 0%, continued to appear. I took the battery out of my laptop then battery back in . The screen did not appear again;however, a black screen with different codes continues to come up. Everytime I attempt to boot up my labtop, this screen appears.I have no idea whats wrong? I'm thinking it has something to do with a new battery.....could someone plaes help???....

EXACTLY what does the screen say? A battery will not break your PC. Maybe when you had the update going, and you turned it off; it may have corrupted your Windows Files that it was trying to update....

No. the battery is fine. if it can show you the numbers that means that the battery is doing OK. These updates are a necessary evil. Not all are meant for you. Probably you have installed a wrong one which is causing the problems. Reboot the laptop in Safe Mode by pressing F8 at boot time. after boot up, Control Panel->Add remove progs. On top you will find a box saying "Show Updates". Select it. When the window is populated, it will show you all the updates as well that it downloaded while you were on the inetrnet. these update will also show you the dates they were installed on. Just delete the recent ones. and your laptop should boot fine when these are removed. If still there is prooblem, then you will have to reinstall Windows. I hope not.

Why won't my dell inspiron 1501 keep update kb967715. everytime that I shut off my laptop,I have reinstall that update. Also,my laptop won't reconize my charger & won't charge the battery.

My suggestion is to go to Microsoft's website and go to the Knowledge Base section. Hence kb at the beginning of the update # kb967715 stands for Knowledge Base. Check over the info that is provided and if you still are unable to figure it out., Pick up the telephone and call Microsoft and ask them " What's up"? They need to help you figure this out. Be demanding and tell them it is there responsibility to get this issue resolved.

My inspiron 1501 prints gt when you type g and hy when I type y. If I use the backspace the whole line disappears. I replaced the keyboard and updated all drivers I could find at Dell. Help.

solution, replace your keypads for your laptop.
problem with the keyboard itself. it is an electronic fault on the keypads. replace it and it should be ok.

My laptop rebooted itself for updates. However, the screen turns blue before it gets to the main screen. It says it shut down windows so it doesn't damage my computer. I don't know how to fix it if i can't...

Boot the laptop, and immediately after you see the DELL splash screen, start pressing F8. This will display a startup menu with a few different options. Choose the option that says "Last Known Good Configuration" - this will back out the last update changes that may have caused your problems. Good luck!!

My Dell laptop is stuck on Windows Vista Home Basic

Press F8 to go to Safe mode, open SYSTEM RESTORE to go back to checkpoint where not yet updated the system.
And next time to open back your system normally finished all updates before you shut down.
Good luck!

Have you installed any application/program prior to the blue screen? Most blue screen causes your system not to boot to your operating system anymore. It is possible that your hard drive is crashed due to a virus infections or spywares. Incompatibility and corrupted system registry may affect your system to have blue screen as well.

You may try the following steps below.

1. Restart your computer. After you pressed the power button to restart. Keep on tapping F8 key on the keyboard on and off.

2. Boot advanced option will show up on the screen. You may boot your computer to the following option.

a. Last known good configuration
b. Safe mode with Networking.

If Safe mode w/networking works, restore your computer to an earlier using the system restore features.

Keep me posted.
