Question about Samsung YP-K5 MP3 Player
It wont turn on at all.. nor will it show the charging sign when plugged into the computer? Any information will be greatly appreciated.. Thanks
WORKAROUND: what you need to do is take the player apart completely, then determine if you have a workable amount of intact ribbon left: by workable I mean about an inch. Strip back to the copper with a straight razor about 1/8" on the PRINT side, then using cyanoacrylate, fix the old ribbon end to the back of it to flatten it. This is your new connection. Lock the slide rail about 1/4" from the fully open position with cyanoacrylate (because with the amount of ribbon you've got it isn't going to be enough for full slide functionality), feed the ribbon through the plate and connect it to the battery/speaker board. Put the thing back together, and you have a speaker *only* mp3 player again. Having just done this I can confirm that this absolutely works, I'm listening to my Armin Van Buuren tunes again. :)

What has just happened to my K5 is that the ribbon connecting the two 'halves' of the mp3 player has snapped. Unfortunately the battery is on the speaker half thus it is disconnected resulting in it not being able to turn on or charge since there's no battery.
I've used mine for well over a year now, of pretty much everyday use though. If yours is relatively new then it might be another issue.
