The set will not turn on as it has detected an electrically unsafe condition. This may be a result of a powersurge around the time of the outage or it may be because an electrical problem has occurred within the circuitry of the set itself. The set has effectively entered 'Safe Mode'.

The source of this problem on the Panasonic Plasma is relative to the number of blinks on the power light. The number of blinks gives an error indication as to exactly where in the circuitry the problem lies.

A reset can sometimes be achieved by disconnecting the power altogether from the TV for a period of one hour at the circuit breaker.

This simple reset will be enough to resolve the issue on many occassions. However if damage has already occurred to the internal circuitry it will have no effect.

If the problem persists after disconnecting the power as outlined - the problem is due to damaged circuitry inside the TV. This is not a user serviceable issue and the only thing you can do is count the number of flashes and contact a Panasonic Service Centre to request a repair.

It will assist the technician if you have the information on the number of flashes already at hand.

Sorry to hear that the problem is persisting. Thank you also for accepting the solution/advice.

For your further information, I would like to add the following as there is one further step you can try that is specific to the 10 flash error before calling in the tech.

The 10 flashes error is fairly common on these TVs and in some instances this particular error can be associated with a problem reading from the HDMI connectors attached to the set. You might just get the set to power up if you temporarily remove all HDMI connections - then hold the power button for 10 seconds on the set and as I say it might just power up.

You can then reconnect the HDMI leads and if you are lucky the issue may be resolved. It is certainly worth a try!

    However - be aware that even if this works - this may only result in a temporary fix. If the issue appears again or is still not resolved then there is a definite component malfunction. To help your tech when he calls - the components listed by Panasonic as associated with the 10 flash error are;

Sub 5v SOS / Main 3v SOS DG Board DTV 9v SOS / Tuner Power SOS (obviously these are not user serviceable)

I do hope this helps and I thought I would add this in given that this procedure of disconnecting HDMI leads is particular to the 10 flashes error. I also hate to see anyone have to call and pay for a tech if it can possibly be avoided!

    Many thanks for using FixYa.

My panisonic 58in plasma TV model number th-58px600u is giving me a flashing code of 10 blinks what does that mean

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Sounds like it may have taken a surge. Did you unplug the set? Try that and give it 5 minute time out before powering back up.

Did anything happen before the problem started like a power outage? big storm? Brown out condition (that's when power is low due to excessive AC use in the summer and the lights grow dim etc - very bad for electronics and motors too)

Do a little more detective work and post your suspicions and findings.

Worse case scenario is there is something wrong inside your set and may need a visit to the repair center. How old is it?

Hope this helps.

Had a lightning storm, now brand new aircon wont restart, remote is ok

The electrical storm may have caused a power surge and burned out the circuit board. Especially, if the power went out briefly and then came right back on. Most manufacturers recommend turning the unit OFF during a power outage/electrical storm.

Hope this helps you.

Had a power outage while watching tv. Then 3 blinking lights.

This is an on-going problem with DLP sets. Normally you shut the set off and the cooling fan cools the lamp down and then it shuts off. In your case, of which it's not your fault, however your lamp has taken a major hit by not properly cooling down, in turn, you need to replace your lamp at this time.
I suggest in the future if you have an electrical storm and a chance of a power outage while your watching tv, I would'nt play that model or any other model of a DLP set.
