Ice Maker Not Producing Ice

Took ice bin out to clean and put it back in and it does not produce ice anymore. Read troubleshooting tips from manual and followed exactly and still does not work. Fridge purchased June '07. Is there anything that will fix this without calling in a service technician? Thanks!

Also took our icebin out to clean and now the icemaker isn't working. Read the owners manual and followed recommendations but it still doesn't work. It worked fine before removing the bin.

Have you reset the power? Is the bin fully inserted in the cavity? Are there any shutoff or bin full indicators that are not in the run position?

Ice maker not producing ice. Tried everything in the Troubleshooting section of Users Manual. Replaced water filter. The front water dispenser is working.

the most likely thing would be a bad water valve.try to reset the ice maker and watch to see if the tray fills up the fill tube could also be blocked with frozen water.the last thing is simply a bad ice maker.

Icemaker not producing ice

Most automatic ice makers have a lever (looks like a piece of wire) that is prevented from being in the down position when the bin is full. This stops the ice maker from producing ice when not needed. The lever can also be lifted manually to a locked up position which turns the ice maker off as well. If the lever is in the up position, simply press down on it, it should release and return to the down position. Once down, the ice maker will begin producing ice again (the unit will have to complete its cycle before you see any ice, normally a couple hours or less). Hope this helps.

Please take the time to give this solution a fix ya rating.

Ice maker won't quit dispensing ice cubes don't have ice skates!

The ice maker has a problem The ice maker is a separate appliance within the freezer section. Please see the How things Work section of our website to learn about the normal functioning of ice makers. Some common problems with ice makers are:

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice
The ice maker is producing ice poorly
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repair
