Problem for kawasaki 19.2V 4 Piece Cordless Tool Kit
Same problem, switch has melted
I've got the same problem, burned smell and all. Opened to find the switch and switch wires were melted.
Apart from fixing the switch, which looks dang near impossible, where would I find a replacement switch?
This drill has given me 5 years of service, $20 would be worth another 5. Plus I hate to throw out the batteries and charger and just start over.

Before you replace the switch if you can find one, check the batterys for the recall they were subject to back in 2007, it could have led to your problem. I would try and contact them for assistance.
