Is the plunger attached to the lid? It is the little prong that goes into the lid switch.

Water fills in, but wash cycle won't start. spin cycle works, changed motor still won't work

Its either in the lid switch or timer. Examine the lid switch. Try starting the wash cycle and press in on lid switch to make sure it activates. If the lid switch is good and you dont hear the motor trying to activate during wash than its in the timer. Does the timer advance? Please comment me back If you need further assistance.

My washing machine (MAH4000AWW) stops during wash cycle. Door sometimes opens. If I tape it shut, this doesn't happen. What needs to be replaced?

You may need a new lid switch. It may need to be cleaned as may the lid switch actuator. Go to repairclinic.com for help in diagnosing the problem for your particular machine.

If your washer doesn't seem to work at all, check these:

No power
Lid switch
No power Check to see whether power is getting to the washing machine. Is it plugged in? Has a fuse blown or is a circuit breaker tripped?

Lid switch If the lid switch is defective, your washer can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Some machines have a special lid-switch fuse near the lid switch, inside the control panel. If this fuse blows, the unit won't fill with water until you replace the fuse.

Maytag washing machine, fill problem

You have a bad lid switch. You don't NEED to replace it. Well wait a minute... have you had this machine for a while? Because if it's new to you, there are some washer's that fill while open. BUT if this is a new problem, it's definately the lid switch!

Washing machine will not spin

Check the lid switch.
There are two wires going to this switch, jump these together, if it works then you need a new lid switch.

Lid switch for admiral washing machine (13 years old)

From description it looks more like you have to replace the lid switch, if you have to push it down, then the contact inside is broken.

You find replacements here, just insert the model number.
