Dyson upright cylinder stuck wont release to empty unit

I have had this happen to me (DC14 Animal). This was my experience:

If you have recently had the motor filter (the "permanent" one under the dust container, right on top of the motor) out and have replaced it, it is important to make sure that the filter cover is down properly, otherwise the canister will not release.

I got the dust container off by pushing it downwards, quite hard before pressing the release button. You really will have to push straight down on it quite hard. Then investigate why the dust container is so high that it will not release.

easy - there is a safety can detect switch underneath to prevent it from turning on when not on the can. Just press this and the motor will start - hold the switch down until the cutter retracts and the motor stops. You are then good to go :-)
(I assume you've got good batteries and yours is a guenuine Daka made opener not a cheap chinese fake)

I think this is in the instructions: http://www.onetouchproducts.com/pdf/CanOpenerllmanual.pdf

It is most likely the switch. To be certain, hold the lower switch button on the front in with a small screwdriver and push the switch. BE SURE to push the button in first, and then the switch. If the motor doesn't start, you need a new switch assembly.

THE LIGHTS COMES ON WHEN YOU PUSH THE SWITCH BUT AS SOON AS YOU RELEASE THE LIGHT GOES OFF

Often the switch on a vacuum cleaner is 'Push-to-turn-ON" and "Push-to-Turn-OFF".
It sounds like the switch on your vacuum is broken-- so that it does NOT stay in the pushed position. Is that what it feels like?

If so-- you will need to replace the switch.

Do you want help with that process?

Brush bar is not turning when I turn on my dison vacum

Hi There,

The Dyson DC15 All floors is actually a 2 motor upright, meaning the suction motor is separate from the motor that rotates the brushes. The first thing you should check is the reset switch on the brushes. Behind the brushes there is a little red pole, push this down to reset the brushes, and see if this fixes the problem.

If not, then you may have a bad on/off switch for the roller brushes. Try pushing the switch next to the main on/off switch that controls the brushes up and down, up and down, can you hear the brushes attempt to come on at all? If you could hear them come on even somewhat, this means that your brush on/off switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

If nothing happens when you push this switch, it still may be bad and not getting any power at all to it.

Does the machine make any sound at all when you try to turn the brush switch on and off?

Please try pushing the reset switch, then testing the on/off switch first. If neither one of these solutions works, please just use the comment field on the repair and let me know, and I can then walk you through some more advanced diagnosing of your machine.

Thanks,

Chris Jones

Troubleshoot Bissell Lift-Off Revolution Pet Vacuum Cleaner

Probably a hose clog. Check the hose on the back of the cannister. Most likely clogged where it attaches to allow debris into the cannister. If cannister is not filling up, that's a sure sign. To remove from top of back of cannister, just turn the ring on the end of the hose to release. Take it outside and push a long thin object through it to force out the clogged hair or debris. The motor is designed to shut off the vacuum cleaner for 30 minutes when this happens to avoid burning up your motor.

Agitator brush will not turn

Some of these have a resetable circuit breaker, if it has one, push it. There is a motor on the brush roll which could be bad. There also is an on/off switch, it may have a problem. Also may have a switch where the hose goes into, some models have a actuator for the switch, when the hose is pushed in, it actuates the switch so the brush roll motor turns on and stops when you pull the hose out.

No power

It could be the switch button that you push to turn it on (2031199), or the switch (2031243) could be the problem. If not those 2, then the cord could be bad or even the motor (2031214). I would check that switch button first.
