Question about Samsung S860 Digital Camera

2 Answers

My samsung s860 camera was fine until I downloaded my pics and flix from my 8 mg card onto the computer... I don't know what I did in the process, but now various settings won't take a picture, the status light flashes and camera locks up until I open the battery compartment to reset it. There is also a small 1428 to the left of the battery life indicator. Help!!!

OK, I tried for an hour, and it didnt change, then took the batteries and memory chip both out before I went to bed and this morning still the same problem. As for the 1428 code however, this seems to be the count for how many photos will fit on the chip at that given time, once I took a picture (which I can do once in a while, but never can I take two in a row without having to reset it)...anyway, the number reduces when I take movies (which I can without any problem) or take photos. Try two things. 1. check the small lock switch on the card and make sure you didn't inadvertantly switch it to lock.2. clean the battery compartment contacts with a Q-Tip dampened, not soaked, in rubbing alcohol. Do this to the battery and the charger also. Good luck, Dana

Hi,

This can electronics short circuit, maybe you unplug it on the computer not properly.

Try to leave the camera without battery for at 1 hour to reset the unit

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

You can download a copy of the manual from the manufacturer's web site at http://www.samsung.com/us/support/detail/supportPrdDetail.do?menu=SP01&prd_ia_cd=04010300&prd_mdl_cd=EC-S860ZSBA%2fUS&prd_mdl_name=SAMSUNG+S860

Downloading

There is an alternate way of downloading images from the memory card from the camera.
Get a USB memory card reader, remove the memory card from the camera, insert it into the card reader, then plug the card reader into the USB port of your computer. You will now see card reader as an external memory device, open the folder and copy your photos onto your hard drive.
