Question about GE Refrigerators
Make a high pitched noise only when the fan and compressor are running. Stops when they are not running. It is model # GSS25KGPHBB.
Then you will need to stop the fan and see if the noise is still there. If yes then its in the compressor. If it goes away then replace the fan

Based off the information you have provided it sounds like you are hearing the compressor come on. In the newer, high-efficiency compressors they operate much faster than the older models and some may put out a high pitched hum or pulsating noise. I hope this helps. -Matt
