Question about Dryers

1 Answer

Heats but won't tumble

I was drying sneakers and realized I was no longer hearing them tumble around, yet still heard the motor. It was still producing heat but was no longer tumbling. Took off back and don't see a belt. Is there one? Is there more I need to remove to find it?

There probably is a belt. Usually not too hard to replace if you have some basic screwdriver and mechanical aptitude. I've replaced several over the years and I aint no Maytag repairmen. Call your local parts house with the make and model and pick up a new one. Even if it's not your model you can probably find a utube video that will help make sense of it. Be sure to unplug the unit before working on it.

Maytag neptune dryer heats but wont tumble

When you spin it by hand, is there resistance? Can you hear the motor turning? In fact, when you switch it on and it starts to heat, can you hear the motor turning, or is it silent?

Sounds like the belt is broken, in which case there will be little resistance.

If there is resistance, it may be the motor or circuitry controlling the motor.

Ran dryer towels and sneakers didn't dry compleatly took out sneakers ran gave code AR drum turn and heats?

Make sure that the exhaust vent is not clogged! If it is, the unit will not dry anything properly since the humidity has no way of leaving the inside of the machine.

How to assemble belt

Hello Denise, I have seen this problem many times. The sneakers by themselves in the dryer cause a shock effect , when the weight of the sneakers tumbling onto the drum overloads the skinny belt and the belt breaks every time. Usually. if you dry the sneakers along with other clothes or towels this will not happen.

Drier does not tumble but it still heats.

Hi,

Sound like the belt being broken or slipping badly, burn out motor, or worn support parts.
  • Dryer have a belt that rotate the drum, If the belt worn out or broken, it can not move the drum then you just need to replace it.
  • You can check motor by hearing buzzing sound, if the belt has the problem. If you do not hear any sound from the motor then you may have to replace it.
  • Try to move drum manually (by hand), if it is hard to turn then problem with the idler pulley, glides, or drum rollers.
I hope this will solve you problem

Good luck and have a nice day
Rating the solution is highly appreciated.

Broken belt due to bad rollers or idler or simply rotten belt. GUIDE

Dryer not tumbling

A broken belt is very common. If you hear the motor running, that's probably it. The dryer must be taken all apart to replace the belt. Hopefully instructions will come with the new belt. Routing the belt over the motor shaft and around the tensioner is always a challenge.
