Question about Linksys Wireless-G WGA54G 802.11g/b (wap54ag) Wireless Gaming Adapter
Computer can no longer find router even while hooked up however laptop does find router. Unable to get router configured for dsl .. have no idea what the problem is.. running both computers on windows xp
I think the problem is that the WGA54G is set up by default to clone the MAC address of the device it was first hardwired to. If you hardwire your gaming adapter to a router and do not disable MAC address cloning, the router's IP address will be cloned and the router's web-based menu system will no longer be accessible.
I resetted my gaming adapter by pressing and holding the reset button for 30 seconds. I then set my PC's network adapter IP to a static IP address of 192.168.1.249. I then connected the WGA54G via ethernet to my PC, used the Linksys CD/Setup Wizard, and configured the gaming adapter to run on 192.168.1.250.
The net result (no pun intended) was that I can connect wirelessly to my XBox using 128-Bit WEP and MAC filtering. I am still having trouble using SMB shares, but I'm (mostly) happy with the results.

Download Network Magic (no need to buy, free one will work) once installed look at your network map, you should see your router click on it and note the IP address. Type this address into your browser.
