ati 9550 graphics card - installed. resolution reverts to lowest setting when attempting to change to higher resolution. How do I overcome this problem?

Have you installed the catalyst drivers from ATI? If the proper drivers are not installed it may revert to the lowest resoloution. The catalyst drivers include the software. Here is the link...
