I am working on my neighbor's slimline HP right now. His HP was having the same problem and has an extended warranty thru HP. He sent the computer to them and was told the motherboard is bad and not repairable. They actually told him to go buy a new computer! I told him I would take a look at it for him. I could not verify if it was the on-board video because even though the board has a PCI-E slot only a half size graphics card will fit and I do not have one. I need to verify that it is not the power supply but the problem is the board uses a small form ATX connector so I had to order and adapter for $15 and I am waiting for the part. If the power supply turns out to be then I will probably install a new motherboard. The problem is there is no where to get a new motherboard for this model(was made by Asus for HP). There are only used available one's available with no warranty. When I get the part to test the power supply I will post an update to you.

- Well the part came in and I tested the board with another power supply....and the board is dead. I did find a guy on e-bay that sells them and ordered one. Here is the link.
- I tested the power supply and found the board is dead. Found on on E-bay for $83 including shipping from Hong Kong. The guy had more than 10 of these boards available.

- i just installed the board and the computer is working again. It looks like this board has updated capacitors and I guess there was a problem with these boards going bad. The guy on e-bay is making a killing...he has sold 1,100 boards in the past year and has 10 of these available. And he just raised the price on this board to $93

I have owned the Hp Pavilion A808 for many years, with an Acer AL1711 monitor. Last night I rebooted the machine and when trying to log in the wireless mouse and keyboard do not work, I change the batteries and resync several times - nothing. This morning I try to reboot and this time the monitor shows only the splash screen ''Acer'' then it says ''no signal''. I have tried using the monitor on another PC and it works fine, so im guessing I have a computer related issue.
