When you say it is stuck in neutral what is stuck? is the shiftter stuck in the neutral postion or is the car not moving when shifter is placed in drive or other gears, if the car doesnt move in gear i would say it is transmission releated, this may be a bad tranny or fluid is very low.
check your transmission oil, make sure it is full. this is were i would start,
your model gps doesnt need a battery to operate. if you know how to open the gps, open it and disconnect the battery, then plug in the home or car charger, then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds. if it starts, let me know and ill give you a link to buy a replacement battery. if it doesnt start, please continue reading.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and
your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while
plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below
is actually a very common problem with these magellan power
ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean
always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then
the factory port.
if your able to replace that power port
yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that
sells them for help.

It may be stuck in place.try useing something to pry up on it with and see if it comes loose.If it moves than you have all the bolts out and if it doesnt that you need to keep searching for a head bolt hiden somewhere.Let me know how it goes.
Since your GPS is not reading azimuth or elevation.. go to the secret menu like you said and select reset GPS user data.. You may want to go back to the "secret" menu and reset user data as well.. so you won't have any of his points of interest stored in YOUR GPS. So, Reset GPS user data and Reset User Data. This should clear up your asimuth/elevation problem and give you a fresh start.
