The BR50 is the phone model. In most cases, if the phone has a SIM you need to remove the battery, insert the SIM and then replace the battery. Please not that some devices that use the BR50 battery do not use a SIM.

take off the back plate, push down on the battery, you should feel it give a little. While pushing down, tilt it back. It should come right out.

you can download a manual in pdf from motorola.com. click on support. is this phone a razr v3? BR50 seems to refer to the battery.

You need to buy a battery from a company that sells a lot of them. This way their inventory is rotated regularly. Or buy one locally that you can return if it's bad.

Your original "should" have lasted longer than 9 months. Are you using the phone more now than before? Are you in weak signal areas now compared to before. Weak signal cause the phone to output more power, thus using more battery power.

You can also buy Extended Life batteries, but make sure you get a battery cover with it that matches your phone.
