Hi I have a stihl ts420 it works well and it cuts but the blade won't stop when it's on and it keeps spinning when I'm not holding the gas how can I fix that problem??

I don't know what all these people are talking about. If your saw is used frequently and not new anymore, it's very likely your clutch springs are worn to the point where they no longer hold back the clutch shoes from coming in contact with the clutch drum anymore and at ANY rpm, they contact the drum and cause it to spin. This also happens often when the saw is given throttle when the blade is binding, it wears the shoes and causes heat which weakens the springs. I'm not positive it's this, if you have ever tinkered with the carburetor it's possible it's idling too high yes, but I'm fairly certain that the clutch springs are worn or stretched out or perhaps one may be broken. This is why string trimmers sometimes keep spinning when the motor is at idle. Start the saw and let it get to operating temp, then without giving it any gas, lower the blade to a hard surface and see if it keeps running or if that stops the motor. If it stops immediately, it's a fair bet the clutch needs replacing.

Cultivator spinning slow

If the blades are turning slowly while the machine is on tick-over, then it is more than likely a clutch issue. Clutch springs will stretch and occasionally break. With less resistance on the clutch shoes they grip the clutch drum and this in-turn will cause the blades to turn.

Check clutch springs.

Hi, my Stihl ts 400 blade runs at idle.I have tried adjusting the idle down as far as I can but it still turns.

seems that ur clutch is sticking.take recoil caseing of and check by turning blade by hand,if you feel the engine turning over, then your clutch drum is sticking,be sure to remove ur spark plug cap! it will be the bearing at the rear of the clutch drum, maybe a little oil and a few turns will help it free itself.hope this helps.

Hi, My Stihl TS400 with 14"

Racing on a 2 cycle engine is usually a sign of a lean condition. It could be caused by a few different things including a bad crank seal or a torn intake manifold as some are made out of rubber. I would remove the cutter arm then pull the muffler to inspect the cylinder and piston. If they are scored it will be a costly repair.

To remove the circular saw, which way do you turn the nut hold the blade on the saw?

For any saw blade or grinding wheel, the rule is this. Pushing against the points of the teeth should be the direction that tightens the nut. So you must loosen it in the same direction that the blade spins. For example, if your saw blade is on the right side of your saw, then the blade spins counterclockwise, and the wood pushes against blade clockwise - so you turn it counterclockwise to loosen it (which is in the same direction that the blade spins.). If the blade is on the left side of the saw, you loosen it clockwise. Good luck, Al K

I don't have any poulan saws mine are all stihl and homelite but they all have a chain lock on them .It is located on the front of the motor on top of the saw and if they are hit fairly hard they will lock down on the chain to prevent injury. Try to push the bar forward then pull it back towards the rear of the saw. You should hear it click when it resets.Hope this helps you. Thank you
