I'm having the same problem. Purchased the camera for my daughter for Christmas. Can sort of see the lights on the Christmas tree through the LCD, but can't see the tree itself -- would sort of help to get a clearer picture of what you are about to snap in case you want to adjust things prior to the picture-taking.

Tried to play around with the settings, but there is nothing that would change the LCD itself; and of course the user manual is lacking (doesn't even have a troubleshooting section).

Despite the very poor quality of the LCD, the pictures seem to come out half-decent; of course you don't know how good a picture you have until you get it onto the computer for viewing. (even viewing the pictures with the LCD is lacking as well).

For the price we paid, I am thinking of sending the thing back -- already spent a few hours trying to improve some of the glitchy things. And of course the Cobra website is no help (can only get a copy of the user manual I already have).

If anyone can figure this one out, I would like to know what the trick is.

We need to be sure of some things:

Are you saving the picture to the internal flash memory or an external SD card?

1) The internal memory will only hold 16MB of pictures, check if it's full.

2) The external SD memory can only be up to 1GB in size, anything bigger will not be recognized by the camera
1. Make sure the SD card is not "locked". Some SD cards have a little switch to prevent them to be written into.
2. SD card should be formatted by the camera preferably or as the FAT format in your PC.

Does this help you in any way?
Please give us more information as to how you are saving them and/or any further questions you may have.

Good luck!
