I have an epson rx620 and the other day it showed a paper jam. there was not paper jamed in there and so i ran a piece of light card board through the paper feeder and it pushed a leaf out. (Don't ask me how that got there.) I ran the card board through one more time and it jamed half way through and so i pulled it out the back way, not knowing that that was a no no. Now if you try to print something, the paper starts to pull in as usual but goes too far and stops for a bit and then continues all of the way through with out printing on it. After that the screen will show paper out or feeding error please insert paper and press the color button. How do i reset this paper feed function, or is it now broke???

Hi when you switch it on have you tried holding down the on off button for about 10 seconds as this often resets most printers. Also when you sya thier is no paper jammed in printer are you absolutely sure their is not even i tiny bit of paper still stuck as it only takes a tiny bit of paper to make this message appear. If you are confident in removing the paper feed witch is difficult to do as you need to make sure it goes back perfect as if it isnt the paper wont feed. Alot of people say their is no paper jammedand they call somebody out to repair the printer and they get charged a fortune for removing a tiny bit of paper. If holding the button down dont work then try switching the plug on whilst holding down the on off button let me know how you get on ok
You can fix this problem by looking down into the paper feed area and
you'll see a gray rubber wheel which is used to pull the paper through.
I put my hand into a sock and soaked the end of the sock in rubbing
alcohol so my middle finger could both rotate the rubber wheel and wipe off the
fine, almost powdery paper residue.
The wheel just needs to be cleaned
so the rubber grips and pulls one sheet at time instead of 3 or 4 and
I use matte finish paper often so the wheel gets dusted
and needs cleaning every 100 sheets or less.
Epson support never offered this advise. They told me to buy Epson paper and see if it works better. By the way, this is the 3rd refurbished printer as they all had the same problem until I figured this out.
Try cleaning the rubber paper feed rollers. If it fails to pick up the paper in a pre determined time it will show paper jam. The pick up tires must pick up paper when turning, if not the paper will not feed into the machine and it will show paper jam with no jammed paper.
I had the same problem and found a small spring was loose and interfering with the paper. The Spring was on the right side as you look at the printer, near the bottom of the paper feeder. I took it out and it works fine, for now.
In each case it seems that it is a software corruption possibly caused by a windows update. Do the following. Switch off the printer. Go to Start/Printers and Faxes/ click on remove printer.
