It's brand new. Bought it off ebay. Got it hooked up to computer windows vista. It will print but it won't copy or scan. All I really need is the copy but it won't. it prints fine


Did you run the installation CD that came with it? That installs all the drivers, which include scan, copy and print. Vista installs generic print drivers, which is probably why you can print. On some printers, the copy and scan commands run from the printer control panel, sometimes via the installed software.

Incidentally, Vista was one of the most hated versions of Windows, only slightly in front of Windows Millenium Edition! You should try Win7, 8, or 10. They are far superior.

What is the make and model? Reply by COMMENT so I get notification.

Lexmark X1185 (print trio) does not scan or copy since upgrading to Vista


Hello Barbhinkins,
Please find the vista driver for this printer at this link. Follow the instructions to install properly.

Hopefully this file will also have driver for scanner.

When I print I get 33 sheets of gibberish with no copy of what I wanted.


It sounds like the print driver installed on Your computer is incorrect. Please try to un-install the Printer driver, reboot your computer and install again to see if that fixes the problem.

Will not print but it will scan and copy


Some times printer manufacturer provide print and scanner drivers separately, did you try to find "print driver"?
Or... some times when you plug your device prior to start installation agent, it do not work until... you re-connect your printer in to other USB port. Try it!

Computer unable to communicate with wireless printer


Hi


If you can't connect to your wireless printer, you may have the wrong driver installed. Printer drivers are updated when new versions of operating systems are released, or when security updates are necessary. If you're trying to connect a new wireless printer, check the manufacturer's website to find out if a new driver has been released for your model number and operating system.

Download the latest print driver to your desktop. Print drivers allow the computer and printer to communicate, so the wrong driver will make connectivity impossible.

Go to "All Programs" in the Start menu. Find your wireless printer and right-click to select "Uninstall." The driver will be uninstalled. Close out the programs window.

Double-click the new driver on your desktop to unzip and install it. This should take only a second, and you may not see any dialog box or pop-up menu.

Open a document and choose "File" and "Print." The print dialog box will open.

Click "Add a printer." The add printer wizard will begin. Browse to the driver you just installed and select it when prompted.

Print the document you opened. It should print to the wireless printer. You can click the "Make default printer" box before you print if you want.

Install the driver in the same manner on all the other network computers. You can copy the driver onto a flash drive and copy it from computer to computer to avoid downloading it multiple times.

Switching from copy to print from computer


If you look carefully at the printer you'll note that there is no button for "Print" and the reason for this is that all the other functions are for using the printer as if it wasn't connected, nor needed a computer.

All your printing functions that DO use a computer require you to interact with the printer via the computer.

In short, to use the printer from the computer you'll need to make sure you've installed the correct drivers (see your installation CD or the Canon website) and then plug the printer in using a USB cable connection to your computer. If the computer recognises the printer you'll then be able to print.

In a nutshell if your printer is connected and drivers installed properly it doesn't matter what your printer has selected on the printers own control panel, you just print :)

Hp LaserJet 1320 will not print multiple copies


This problem is caused by Mopier Mode being enabled by default. The idea of Mopier Mode is to minimise computer and network traffic by sending only 1 copy to a printer equiped with suitable internal memory. That stored copy is then used to produce the multiple copies. Most HP Laserjets do not have suitable internal memory and so only the one copy sent by the computer gets printed. To disable Mopier Mode:
Click Start
Click Devices and Printers
Right click your Laserjet Printer
Select Printer Properties
Click the Device Settings Tab
Scroll down to the bottom
If necessary, expand Installable Options
Click on Mopier Mode
Select Disable in the selection box that appears
Click Apply
You will now get multiple copies.
