Question about Dell Latitude D505 Notebook

1 Answer

Display goes off after few minutes of working. But the system is on. System has to be switched off by pressing the on/off button.Same problem continues if you switch on the button after some time. A lock glows in one of the warning lights by the side of the on/off button. A solution to this problem is greatly appreciated.

Before I can give you a solution you need to troubleshoot further. If you can, connect your Laptop to an external monitor. Use the PC as normal, if it continues to work with no issues on the external monitor then you will need a new LCD screen.

Is the display off.... or is it just really really dim?? If it is dim then the backlight on your LCD screen is bad, and you will need to purchase a new LCD screen.

Does this only happen in Windows? Can you go into the BIOS and leave it for a while and see if it still does it. If it only does it when you are in Windows then it is a software issue, probably a driver. If it occurs outside of Windows OS then it is a Hardware issue.

What does this mean... "Same problem continues if you switch on the button after some time." ?????? what are you trying to say? That you have to let it cool down before you can turn it back on to get video... if you have to let it sit for a while before it will work again, then your PC is OVER-HEATING. Which is probably fixed by cleaning out all the dust from the heat-sink and fan. Hopefully you didn't fry your video card.

Further steps are needed to diagnose your issue.

I HAVE A SC-HC30DB SYSTEM AND IT'S NOT LETTING ME IN THE DAB MENU,DAB NOT WORKING ALL WORKING OK OTHERWISE.

I had the same problem - you can fix with a system reset. Unplug the unit at the wall and wait 2-3 mins, then plug in and switch on while holding the power button - the display will be blank for at first, but will eventually display '---------------------'. Release the power button and switch the unit on as normal. Press the Dab button and the unit will start to auto-search for channels. Give it a few minutes and you'll be back in action :)

How do you set the clock on a 2004 gmc ykon

According with the Owners Manual:

* Setting the Time for Radios without Radio Data Systems (RDS)
Press and hold the HR or MIN arrow for two seconds. Then press HR until the correct hour appears on the display. Press and hold MIN until the correct minute appears on the display. The time may be set with the ignition on or off.

* Setting the Time for Radios with Radio Data Systems (RDS)
Your radio may have a button marked with an H or HR to represent hours and an M or MN to represent minutes.
Press and hold the hour button until the correct hour appears on the display. Press and hold the minute button until the correct minute appears on the display. The time may be set with the ignition on or off.
To synchronize the time with an FM station broadcasting Radio Data System (RDS) information, press and hold the hour and minute buttons at the same time until RDS TIME appears on the display. To accept this time, press and hold the hour and minute buttons, at the same time, for another 2 seconds. If the time is not available from the station, NO UPDAT will appear on the display.

RDS time is broadcast once a minute. Once you have tuned to an RDS broadcast station, it may take a few minutes for your time to update.

Hope this helps.

read up on your manual on how to shut off the monitor (so that you can use an external one). it may be toggling on. other options are to make sure you have the newest driver and also to shut off the screen saver function. does this happen when you are plugged into the mains or just when you use battery ?

Hp photosmart 3200 all in one ink system failure

I know this sounds crazy but I did this and others have too, it worked. Hold down four buttons at the same time ( OK, Cancel, Black , Color ) and turn the power off. Note: I figured out how to hold the 4 keys down with one hand and push the on/off switch at the same time. Once you power the printer back up is will take a few minutes to go through maintenance. Then it will “hopefully” go back to normal. I did this 2x’s. HP gives you a procedure that doesn't work! They just want to make money off fixing it every 6 months. They are in the service, repair and “ink business” not printer manufacturing.
