RS 4i won't power up

The short version is RS Medical informed me there is no tech support that can talk to you by phone that repairs are done in some warehouse location. Units are to be sent to RS Medical and repair cost may be covered by insurance but if not cost is passed back to the customer. Units are not to be opened by users as that disables the program. I believe it is all a rip off. My unit would not power on with a charged battery so I did order a replacement battery pack and it continued doing the same thing. Both battery packs test good with battery tester. However there is also a 3v button cell battery built into the unit that test bad but RS customer service could not tell me the function of that battery. I am thinking that battery may be the culprit of my problem. I am capable of changing that battery but would still need to know if anyone knows how to reset the unit.
Does anyone know of a doctor or field representative that may be knowledgeable of these devices?

The 3v battery supports the program info,if it goes bad, u have to send in and they will replace battery and reprogram for u. that is as long as the sysytem is paid for, after one year of service, unit shuts down and u have to call in and they will walk u through entering a code to reset. as long as there is a zero ballance. mine has a bad powerpack 6v 2.1ah 0525 battery, if u have an extra i sure could use. contact is cphlah@yahoo.com. i am in louisiana. thanks

I had a gas leak coming from the female or male fuel line connector I repaired the plastic connector but the bike still won't start.


Hi, Denim and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Severely discharged or damaged battery, you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
8. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
9. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
10.. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
11. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2, TPS, ETP, IAC,or BAS).
12. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
13. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
14. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
15. Security system not disarming alarm needs a reset.

Setting that is permanent and will never have to be reset. Unplug machine when screen goes blank push the power button and press the channel #4 minus until you get the setting screen. Start with channel #1 and set it to A channel #2 set to B channel #3 set to the number 6 and channel #4 set to A.

I am an attorney and I am looking for an expert witness on a faulty wheelchair repair can you help?


Your best bet would be to look in the yellow pages under Durable Medical Equpiment to find a local wheelchair/scooter sales & service shop in your area, and ask if they have repaired an Invacare chair before and are familiar with it and can help you.
Another option would be to contact Invacare AS A CUSTOMER and ask to speak with Technical support, see if they have a local field tech who might be able to give you technical repair information over the phone. They probably won't give you the Tech's name and phone, but if you give them yours, the person may call you back and you can give your proposal from there.
I'm with Hoveround, so my knowledge on other brand scooters and power chairs is in general info. I hope this information is helpful to you!

Is there any reset code for RS-4i stimulator?


If "you got your stimulator" with a prescription and own it just call RS Medical & they'll reset you for free on the phone. That's what I did. No problem. Then a month ago I dropped & broke my unit so I thought I'd buy another on the internet since I'd paid RS over $4,000 on my orig machine & some supplies, and could find them cheaper on ebay etc. Then I called RS for a reset, they asked for the serial number, and I learned that not everyone OWNS "their machines". The one I'd just bought was a never returned LEASED item that many return demand letters had been sent out on. In other words, I was sold STOLEN PROPERTY. RS Medical wanted their unit back. I wanted my money back from the seller. Paypal WAS NO HELP. The replacement I bought has been flagged as stolen & will never be reset ---- don't get yourselves in this crappy position people, it's not worth it. Go to a Dr., get a prescription for the device, hope your insurance will pay a good chunk of it, and MAKE SURE IF YOU'RE BUYING ONE ON THE INTERNET YOU ASK FOR A SERIAL NUMBER OF THE MACHINE & CALL RS FIRST TO SEE IF THE SELLER REALLY OWNS IT (& this is hard enough working around the HIPPA stuff..), but they'll tell you if it's THE PROPERTY OF RS MEDICAL!!!

I have a RS Medical RS-4i stimulator , how do I reset it ?


This is the code that I was given about 7+ years ago to reset our RS Medical RS-4i Stimulator and it worked fine.

Turn unit on & press ch. 4. Then you press ch. 1 until it shows a "F". Then ch. 2 until it shows a "7", ch. 3 until it shows a "B", & ch. 4 until it shows a "A".
