To begin, turn both of the carb jets out 1 1/2 turns from bottom. spray some starting fluid in the cylinder after removing the spark plug and then install a brand new plug. If it fires then try it again with the choke on. If it still won't start then you have carb problems. Also make sure that the air filter screen is clean with no holes in it. Hope this helps

Have spark dos'nt start ? homelite 26cc

Since you have spark then you need gas or air. I made some videos on giving my Homelite a tune up and carb rebuild. Got all the parts form Home Depot and the carb rebuild kit from Amazon. Didn't cost much for all that.

I have a old homelite that won't start new plug fresh gas no spark

Most of the time on older engines, the carb needs to be rebuilt or replaced. Dont panic rebuilding is cheap an easy. The ports get clogged up sitting an varnish up. Try to clean out all orifices with small pieces of wire from steel or brass brush. Use carb cleaner to clean replace all gaskets an parts with kit. Dont forget to check fuel hose in tank they go bad often an should be replaced when carb work is done. Fresh gas an it should work

Need to know what carb screw adjustment need to be set at weedeater starts for about 4-7 sec then shuts down put new hoses on checked gas filter and cap checked out ok. i pump the ball about 10 times...

If there is a choke adjustment you should set that at full until the trimmer warms up, don't touch the gas. Then repull start at half choke, don't touch the gas either at this time. Then start at no choke, and then set your idle on the carberator with the adjustment screw. Also don't push the primer bulb so many time you will cause the spark plug to get flooded and drown out the spark, which is exactly what is happening.

My 16" Homelite chainesaw will not start. I have fresh fuel, and good spark.

Remove the spark plug and try spraying starter fluid or carb cleaner into the cylinder. If it starts and then dies you probably have a carb problem and will probably have to clean it. You can try spraying carb cleaner in it and see if it helps. If it has been sitting, if could be due to the fuel. Gas has ethanol that attracts water and causes corrosion and clogging problems in the carb. You can use a fuel stabilizer to treat your gas and avoid this problem. Hope this helps.

Old gas, will not start. homelite "timberman 45"

Fuel starvation - 'lean fuel' condition
Basic things to check:
1) spark plug
2) spark arrestor in muffler
3) fuel lines and tank filter
4) turn adjustment needles out (counterclockwise) 1/4 to 1/2 turn
Chain Saws:
5) check impulse tube and intake boot for cracks or leaks
*if all of the above are OK and/or do not improve performance then:
Remove Carburetor
6) replace gaskets/diaphragms
a) use a spray carb cleaner to clean jets, holes, and body of carb
b) fuel pump diaphragm goes against the carb body,
then the gasket towards the outside
c) metering gasket goes against the carb body,
and the diaphragm goes towards the outside
