Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

You might check into a fancier keyboard app to replace the one that pops up by default, one that supports special characters.

Dell manuals

I have Dell N 017F9Y keyboard, which has several keys with up to 4 special characters (e.g., ;, : apostrophy and degree symbols on one key) on them. The problem is - what keys (shift/alt/Ctrl or specific combinations of these) should be used to get appropriate character. There are 6 keys with 4 characters, 6 with 3 characters. Another example is when I try to put question mark using Shift lock it gives me ( ^ ) this character. The help is urgently needed.

Thanks..Kumar

How do I get swedish letters on an asus keyboard?

You get special characters by using alt codes. That is, you press and hold the "alt" key while entering a 4-digit code using the numeric keypad (or, on a laptop, the keys that serve as a numeric keypad). When you release the alt key the special character appears at the cursor location. This page lists the characters and corresponding code.

If you are using an application like Microsoft Word, there may be an "insert special character" command available. Then you can pick the character from a table instead.

Where do I find the manual to explain keyboard keys

That depends on the keyboard itself, & what it is you wish explained. Look up your keyboard brand & manual or instructions on Google. If you really mean special characters, Google "special keyboard characters", or "Character map".

ALT Codes

I'm a little late to the game, but...
I share James's frustration. Seems like a dumb thing for Dell to economize on. Here's my workaround, for what it's worth.
  1. Open the Windows on-screen keyboard (osk.exe). And, for later ease of use, pin it to your taskbar. (Detailed instructions: click on the Windows start button, type osk.exe in the search box, right-click on the program, select Pin to Taskbar.)
  2. On the virtual keyboard, open Options and select "Turn on the numeric keypad." After saving the setting, press the NumLock button.
  3. Here's the tricky bit: press and hold Alt on your physical keyboard, and then press and hold Fn, again on your physical keyboard. You're holding them both down, right? Keep doing it. Now enter your four-digit code on the virtual (on-screen) keyboard. Release the physical keys. You should have your special character.
Hope it works for you.
