I have the same problem as Rcklaw. I am using the software (ION Audacity) that came with the turntable but getting nothing when playing back. I have followed all the instructions and the troubleshooting guide in the manual but all to no avail.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks

I have the same problem, have tried reinstalling the EZ Vinyl Converter SW with no luck. Spoke to ION tech support and reviewed all the setting for sound which was correct, in short to listen use your computor sound card and to record mush be set to USB CODEC. Support shipped me and updated version of EZ Vinyl converter but made no difference. I decided to load the SW on my laptop and the recording meters and counter worked the way they should. So there appears to be an issue with my original computor, and at this time ION Support has not be able to suggest anything, By the way he Audacity SW records and works fine.

Exactly the same problem. Win XP Home. Can get Audacity to record (but it crashes) so I know it's not the hardware.

SOURCE: Appears to be installed properly but doesn't record

When you first connect the turntable, Windows XP (and Mac OSX) will often select the "USB Audio Codec" as the audio input and output for your entire system. Since your turntable does not have speakers, audio will not be heard from your programs until you tell Windows not to use the turntable as an output device. Here's how to change these settings so that your internal sound card will always be used for playback whether or not your ION TTUSB is connected via USB:

    For Windows:
  1. On the bottom left of your screen, select the "Start" menu.
  2. Select "Settings" then "Control Panel".
  3. In the window that opens, select the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. (If you don't see a choice called "Sounds and Audio Devices," choose the "Switch to Classic View" option in the panel on the left of the window, and the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon should become available in the list on the left.
  4. Select the "Audio" Tab at the top of the "Sounds and Audio Devices" control panel window.
  5. Under "Sound Playback," choose your internal sound card as the default device. This varies by computer but should not be set to "USB Audio Codec" or "Microsoft Sound Mapper".
  6. Under "Sound Recording," select "USB Audio Codec" for your default device.
  7. Check the box titled "Use only default devices".
  8. Click "Apply"...then "OK".

    For Mac:
  1. Open your Hard Disk.
  2. Open your "Applications" folder.
  3. In the "Applications" folder, open the "Utilities" folder.
  4. In the "Utilities" folder, open the "Audio MIDI Setup".
  5. In the "Audio MIDI Setup" under Audio Devices, set:

    • "Default Input" to "USB Audio Codec"
    • "Default Output" to "Built In Audio"
    • "System Output" to "Built in Audio"

Now, all programs, including Audacity, will only use your internal sound card for audio output.

Turntable out of Tune

it will be the turntable speed not exact
quality turntables have bars all around the circumference and when the speed is correct under a fluro light those bars will appear as stationary or using a strobe light set at 50 or 60 cycles a sec
bars going anticlockwise are too fast and moving forward are too slow
quality tables have a small knob or screw to adjust motor speed

Probably the needle, I work on them and many needles are bad from new. They were put on wrong in the first place. Try taking the red part off and make sure there is a needle part and that its straight.

Need driver for windows to have the Crosley CR249 turntable work correctly.

Hi,
Insert the enclosed software cd into your computer.
Follow the instructions on the computer screen to install the software. If the software does not load automatically, browse the cd and open the Read Me folder for further instructions.
Connect the small end of the USB to the USB jack on the back of the unit.
Connect the other end to a USB port on your computer.
On your computer open the Record Recording software.
For instructions on operating the Record Recording software, browse the software cd and open the Read Me folder.

I got that from the manual. You don't need a separate USB driver for it, mate, but you DEFINITELY need the cd...

Hoping you have the cd,

Chris (ziraffa)
