Question about Fuji Electronics - Others

Beta SP Model PVV-3. While shooting, the space in the viewfinder between the eye piece and the mirror inside the view finder filled with smoke. It happened twice. After the first time, we hooked the camera up to a monitor. The middle of the picture in the viewfinder and the numbers over the picture were blurry, but the picture was clear on the monitor. Would the problem be something other than the viewfinder?

Work-around is not acceptable.  Need to be able to see clearly through viewfinder.  Before I buy a new viewfinder, I want to make sure the problem isn't in the body of the camera.

What does "changing the glasses" involve?  Is it cheaper than buying a new viewfinder?

  • friedman_r_a Sep 08, 2009

Thanks for your help.  I think I'll go with a new viewfinder.

It is not smoke but fungus. and that means that the glasses have to be changed. And since you have found means to circumvent the problem, just keep using it that way.

    Friedman friend,
as you have mentioned in the original description that the numbers etc were blurred in the viewfinder, but the pic was clear on the monitor, what greater proof do you want. The viewfinder has fungus because of which you cant see the objects clearly, but the lens etc are clear because of which the monitor shows a clear pic. your view finder is suffering from cataract in human terms.

it means that you could use the same casing and change only the lenses and the mirror and whatever it has in a viewfinder. it should be a shade cheaper, if possible.

Cracked view finder

That would depend on which part of the viewfinder that needs repair or replacement. If it's the piece of glass at the very back, where you put your eye, it wouldn't be that expensive. If it's the prism inside the hump atop the camera then it would be quite expensive.

Canon 1d mark 4 camera viewfinder problem

Adjust the viewfinder diopter to match your eye. Remove the rubber eyecup by grasping both sides and sliding it up. Turn the little knob to the left of the viewfinder until the focus points or center metering circle appear sharp. Replace the eyecup.

I have a newtonian telescope 76mm with SR4, H12.5 and H20. I have aligned the crosses up and can see through the viewfinder but nothing through the eye piece. Ive placed all the other lenses into the eye...

YOU MUST align the small finder scope with the main tube.

Point the scope at a distant object like the top of a telephone pole. GET the top in the center of the eyepiece in the main scope.

Then without moving the scope-- adjust the cross-hairs in the small finder scope so they line up on the same object.

Perfectly good photos but image in view finder will not focus Nikon D80 camera

Try adjusting the viewfinder diopter. There's a little dial just to the right of the viewfinder. Turn it while looking through the viewfinder. You want to be looking at an unfocused view or a blank wall. Turn the dial until the focus brackets are sharp. Make sure you do this with your shooting eye.

Model Power Shot S1IS - my view finder is blurred but the photos taken are clear. Did I touch the wrong button??

Next to the eyepiece is a diopter adjustment. This allows you to focus the viewfinder just for your eye. The camera lens is not affected. I can adjust the diopter and shoot without my glasses haveing to be on.

Do we have option to take pics through LCD in Nikon D40X?

Hi. No you can't shoot by viewing the LCD, only by using the eye-level viewfinder. Some SLR cameras have "live-view", which lets you use either the eye-level finder or the LCD. It really isn't a very good method of shooting with an SLR, as you first have to lock the mirror up, compose your shot, then drop the mirror back down. Using the eye-level finder also blocks out the bright light that makes the LCD difficult to use in sunlight. Hope this helps answer your question.

Veiw finder(eye piece ) out of focus pictures are fine

Use the diopter adjustment to refocus the viewfinder to your eye.

Point the camera at a sign or something with writing on and half press the shutter button to focus then move the little adjuster at the top right of the viewfinder until the image in the veiwfinder is in focus

The camera has a mirror lock up feature for cleaning the CCD sensor. You may have engaged it. Check your manual about this function

Taking photos

You can only use the viewfinder. If you want to use the LCD, you need to buy an SLR with "live view." However, you'll soon get used to using the viewfinder, it's the best way to shoot unless you're holding the camera somewhere you can't get your eye to the viewfinder.

Bundled Eye Piece Cover

The Eye Piece Cover is the cover that attaches to the viewfinder. The eye piece cover prevents light from entering the viewfinder when shooting with your eye away from the viewfinder.
