Re: maytag top-loading washing machine at least 10 yrs....

Sounds like the water pump is leaking. If you can raise the front of the unit you should be able to see the pump and hose connections. If it is the pump, you can get a replacement at you local appliance supply.

Top load washer, spincycle spins drum, wont pump water out of tub, about 10-15 yrs old machine

You need to clear out the drain pump. You do this by tilting the machine back as far as you can so you can access the underneath. You will see the small drain pump. Have a basin ready to catch any water that comes out when remove the pump which is only held in by 1 or 2 screws and twisted out or pulled out. Hope this helps

Do the cloths seem like they are more than just damp when you take them out? At that age it may be in need of a new drive belt as the machine ages the belt stretches. You might also try washing smaller loads. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

the self cleaning lint filter seems to be clogged. before you replace it try this cheap/ easy remedy.
  • run a load with no clothes on high water level, hot water and a gallon or two of bleach.
  •  no soap.
  • do an extra rinse after to make sure you rinse all the bleach away before putting more clothes in.
the lint filter may be defective since it has always had this problem, but its worth a try.

Black mark on clothes after washed in Maytag top load washer.

Check and make sure the seal at the bottom of the washer is not wore out. Alot of times you will get grease from the bearins and drum assembly if this wears out.

Washer leaking water on floor

Need to check drain pump and its hose connections. If its not from the drum seal then that's usually where the leaks occur.
