Question about LG WFT1071TP Top Load Washer
These black flakes appear in the water during the washing cycle. I've cleaned out the filter at the back as well and that doesn't seem to be the problem. If someone could help me please.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: flakes of dirt on washing
Is this perhaps a second hand machine or it has possibily been stored away for some time? When a washer dries out inside ( behind the washer bowl ) and is then put back in service, dirt from years of use caked on insides flakes away ( like a dry leaf crumbles) and re-enters the wash and can end up on washed clothing. The only way to stop this is complete removal of washer bowl , scrub and clean insides to remove caked on dirt - reassembly. problem fixed !

I was given a new model LG washing machine recently, it works as it should however the original owner was a builder and whatever he was washing off his clothes has caked onto the sides of the outer drum.
I have pulled the top off the washer and can see that the outer drum is literally covered with a fulll layer of this thick, black muddy greasy clay like substance. I need to pull the inner drum out in order to be able to get the outer drum but haven't managed to figure it out as of yet.
I've tried dissolving portions of the gunk with detergent, acetone, cleaning vinegar, methylated spirits, paint thinner, auto degreaser and mineral turpentine, of all these agents turps is the only one that seems to have an effect however it's ability to dissolve the stuff is minimal.

SOURCE: whirlpool washing machine
It sounds like the porcelein on the inner or outer tub is damaged allowing rust to form.
Another possibility is that there are iron deposits in the internal hoses that are loosening.
I would (assuming you can afford the water wastage) run the machine on 'full load' and 'hot' several times with no clothes in it to see if it will flush out.

your lip seal is leaking and the bearings are getting water in them, you need to get this fixed soon, because they can lock up if left too long like this and it will only get noisier and not better with time
