Most of the time that is from your condenser fan motor being out and your unit is not rejecting any heat from the freezer.

Defrost cycles are on 8, 10 or 12 hour timers depending on the timer you have or the control boalrd you have so basically I would say about every 10 hours your fridge will go into defrost

I have a Hotpoint CSX24GRXA side by side refrigerator. The freezer side started having cooling problems in that it would get too cold, so I adjusted the thermostat to warm up the freezer. Then, I noted...

ok one thing at a time . the center post that is hot is a sing that the coils need to be cleaned and that the compressor is running to hot . this will also cause over run times and this causes tempt problems . such as too cold for the settings . so clean coil and if it look good the you did a good job and ck the fan blads and clean them too . they can't run properly if dirty and out of balance . some warmth on the center post is normal but if very hot then thing are getting dirty .. hope this helps mm

HOTPOINT (made by G.E--enough said). Do you already have food loaded into the unit? If so, how warm is it, and do you have it packed up to the vent?

My frige stays warm all the time it is a Hotpoint

evaporator coils are iced up on the freezer side. either take everything out of the fridge and unplug it and let it sit for a day to defrost, or remove the inside rear panel where there is frost and (with the fridge off) use warm water sprayed on the ice to defrost it (or use a hair dryer, but just until the ice is melted. do not overheat the metal). soak up the excess water (underneath the fridge, too), and turn it on empty. let it run empty for a day to get it cold, then put the stuff back in. if the stuff is in there when it's warm, the humidity will ice up the coils again.

Water under side by side hotpoint

You can deal with it once for all by pouring warm water into the drain pipe to clear any blocks and sopping it off with a sponge..
