Some of these have a screw in the very bottom of the carb or in the front that will adjust the engine loping problem

Why does my riding mower motor keep suring?

I think you mean surging ? right surging is a cause of only two things , wrong air/fuel ratio due to missadjustment of carb or dirt in carb , other cause is that governor arm spring has fallen off this happens a lot with briggs engines , simple to put it back on the little arm that connects to throttle arm
if dirt in carb is suspect , try adding a 50/50 ratio auto carb cleaner to fuel and running for an hour or so , this sometimes works and sure beats removing carb and cleaning it

My 13.5 ho b&s surges heavily but smoothed out when blade/ deck is engaged or when I apply choke. I've twice cleaned carbs and still now working. I ran in garage with no air filter to elimina

hello sir, mower will not start or run, runs only when primming, does it have good spark, good compression,or only runs on full choke, are you getting fuel to the engine if not try this, your fuel pump or your carb. is clogged up here is what you can do for a simple repair for the carb, you can remove the air filter and assy, empty fuel tank and clean out tank and line, remove the bowl nut and bowl careful of the gaskets, now spray carb cleaner in the small port holes in the carb steam in the middle of the carb until clean, now spray the bowl nut holes until clean there are three, after cleaning put bowl on the same way you removed it with dip towards front of float, put bow, and fresh gas,you should be good to go,hope this helps.,thank you.~~

2010 model 20 hp Briggs motor. Fuel going through fuel line, but not going into carberator. Motor runs good for about 15 min, but after heating up this fuel problem starts. After cooling down for an...

Two things:
1 Is fuel coming out of the fuel line. Older mowers have old fuel lines and they tend to get weak and collapse went they warm up with engine heat. Replace the old fuel line.
2 deposits in the carb. take off the air cleaner, start it up and spray a good carb cleaner in the carb until the engine dies. Put some 'seafoam' in the gas and a little in the oil and put the air cleaner back on and start the mower and mow on FULL THROTTLE. this should claen out the carb. Yes the mower will run rough for awhile.

these two cheap fixes will solve 85 % of carb problems. GOOD LUCK

My engine turns but does not start i am getting spark at the plugs i dont think there is enough fuel being pumped in

Try getting a can off carb cleaner or brake cleaner and give it a good spray in the throttle/carb this will likely do the trick.

My Sears riding mower chokes itself out after warmed up,

Careful with the high octane.. That can burn a hole in the piston..

It might be fludding.. At the bottom of the carb should be a bowl.. One bolt at the bottom.. Take it off and clean it.. Spray some carb cleaner up in there where the float is..

If that dont do it --

Maybe the float is bad & taking in fluid..

If it has sat for long piriods of time - the carb might need to be cleaned & rebuilt..

When gass sits in there for a long time it shalacks and wont work correctly..

Pop off the carb & take to your local small eng shop. Shouldnt cost to much..
