Hai, im vipin. My mother board is AsRock K8Upgrade-VM800. It doesnt support 160 Gb SATA HDD. my older one 80 gb gone. I cant install windows in my system. on XP setup it shows "no harddisk is attached to ur system" like that... BIOS doesnt show the 160 gb hdd. im in problem please help me...
This board is a fairly new board withe serial ATA so I would imagine it should be able to handle a 160 GB hard drive. Check your connections to the hard drive and make sure they are fully seated. Also make sure the power connector going to the drive is fully inserted and working. If you have another serial ATA cable swap it out maybe the one installed is defective. Make sure the serial ATA function is activated in the BIOS and that it is listed on the boot menu. If the hard drive is brand new you may have to create a partition on the hard drive in DOS in order for it to be recognized by the BIOS. You may have to make a boot disc on another computer and run the DOS program to create a partition on the drive and then format the drive.

medion ms-7091. problem is bsod when plugging in any usb device. front two usb slots are dead, card reader is dead. formatted and reinstalled windows xp hone on new hdd. can now use rear usb devices but still intermittent crashes. what do you suggest. I suspect moard fault. I would rather get a new moard with better specs, and use existing, very good, hardware. What m-atx board would you recommend. Thanks in advance, Paddy.
