Question about SimpleTech SimpleDrive STI-USB235/160 160 GB Hard Drive
I just bought a brand new 1TB Rock Mobile external Harddrive? I understand that there is usually some information that needs to be preloaded or whatever and there is usually a loss of a some of the storage capacity. In this case though the Free Space on this drive is on 931 GB. That's like 69 GB of already used space and that just seems like a lot more than I would expect to see on a new drive. Anyone know if this is normal?? I am running Win XP if that helps.
No. It is not that way. how it is read is as under: 1 K is 1024 bytes 1 MB is 1024 K bytes 1 GB is 1024 MB 1 TB is 1024 GB. As per books. BUT, when it comes to selling HDDs 1 TB is 1000,000,000,000 bytes. the extra 24 bytes at each lelvel have been overlooked. Thats where you loose so much of disk space.
