Question about Sewing Machines

1 Answer

My son-in-law installed a new battery on my rv but he connected the negative post to the positive wire. As soon as I noticed I connected them correctly. Now the electrical system does not work as it should. I replaced the battery with a new one but when I plug into the generator it doesn't recharge the battery. Any help with this problem would be welcomed.

When you reversed your polaraties, you most likley blew out all your main fuses and your fusable links alike. I would check out all your fuses and links first. Aside from that you might have blown out a module. its actually a **** shoot at this point since we really dont know how much damage was done.
let me know if i can be of any more assistance.

New home excel 23x

New Home is one of those machines that has multiple families. I have one that was made by White, and yours appears to be made by Janome. I hope that information can be helpful int he future.
Does the slider seem to be bent in any way? If not, the insides of your machine may be full of bits and pieces of fuzz, lint and thread,, thus forcing the lever to the far right position. I have had that happen with mine. It had to be taken apart and cleaned. I hope you get it going soon! There are some independent repair shops that don't charge a king's ransom for machine repair. I hope you are sewing again soon!

110vsinger portable sewing machine was plugged in 220v

Think about it. You burned it out by doing that. Happens quite a bit here in RV (caravan parks) which are supposed to be wired 110v 30 amps but get wired at 220v by a stupid electrician. It's hosed, dump it in the bin... or maybe sell some of the parts from it. and go buy a new machine.

Power Problems

Well, if it has continuity between pos and neg. But none between pole and Pos and pole and neg. What does that tell you? It's wired wrong. I would like to help you further but we don't know what kind of sewing machine this is. You didn't provide any of that information.

I have a John Deere L110 that won't start. Mowed grass then parked it and it wouldnt start. These are all of the things we have done: New spark plug, solinoid, all 3 safety switches, battery terminals...

problem could be: brake pedal is not depressed; PTO is engaged; battery terminals are corroded; battery not charged; blown fuse; or fusible link in starting circuit is blown. These are the Most Common Causes for your Problem. Recheck your voltage of the battery and then check it under a load....Take a Jumper Cable Set and Attach the Positive Lead to the Positive Post of the Battery. Take the Other End and FIRMLY Touch the Large Post of the Soleniod on the Starter Side. If the Starter Turns the Engine, then Check the Voltage from the Ignition Switch to the Soleniod. If the Voltage is Going From the Switch to the Soleniod When the Ignition Switch is in the Start Position, then Replace the Soleniod. If No Current from the Ignition Switch to the Small Post on the Soleniod, then The Ignition Switch is Bad ....Hope this helps

What is the blue wire for:; Is it positive or negative please what is the brown wire for: Is it positive or negative and is the yellow and green the...

Blue = Neutral, Brown = Live and you are correct Yellow & Green = Earth
The live wire (brown) must be connected to the fuse if there is one.
You could say that the blue wire is negative (or zero) and the brown wire is positive as this is the one the high current passes through. The blue wire completes the circuit, which is needed for current to flow.
Hope this helps!

Villager will not start after changing plugs, son in law said it started, he turned it off then it would not restart, I thought he may have ran out of gas, added 5 gallons, still won't turn over. Not sure...

Is it getting any spark to the plugs? How old is this van, and how many miles? I'm wondering if the timing belt is needing replaced...if maybe it is worn and streached, and jumped when he shut the engine off. Did he change the plug wires too? If so, did he get them plugged in right? If he changed the firing order, it won't start. Could use some more information.

Temp misplaced Pfaff 1471 manual during move. After unpacking machine, I got "battery" light. Replaced two AA batteries under machine, but still get battery light.

Unplug the machine and check to make sure that the contacts for the batteries are clean and that the batteries are installed with the correct positive and negative orientation. Plug the machine back on and test.

Can't get quantum to work

When I looked at Futura's website yesterday getting information on installing this software on a Vista system, there are a number of things that you have to do, not just download and install the Vista patch.  After you install the Vista patch, instructions are given on how to set the program to run in WIN XP mode and then you have to install the XP patch.  Check the website for the specific instructions.  Now if I could just find a copy of the base software to install (my mother-in-laws computer crashed and no one can find the install CD -- we found the other one and the DVD video disk but not the install).  Singer wants to sell me the program again for $269.
