The unit may settled and it is rubbing against something it may be the cover...run the unit on low and see then to high that may lead you to the location good luck

Coleman RV Rooftop Air Conditioner - cage fan making a noise like it is hitting on something as it goes around. The motor works as it should, low and high fan and cool, the air is cold. The only thing...

Hi,
Those squirrel cage fans have a habit of coming apart, or getting dirt in them and going out of balance...then they wobble and hit the sides of the fan housing...
Make sure the fan is clean and also move it around a bit to make sure it is not coming apart....
Often the only way to fix them is too replace the sqirrel cage part...

When i turn my ac on all i get is a hum noise no fan etc

to me it sounds like u have a bad fan motor.Remove inside cover to access fan motor. Check fan to be sure blades move freely Turn on for a min.turn off and feel the motor. If its warm.then i would. replace it..That is agood sign the motor is bad.The other way is to test power at the fan by power supply leads.remove 1 side of supply, using a volt meter clip to the wire an clip other lead to motor or to frame
. turn power on an u should have power of 120v.If not then you may have bad switch

I have a chillaire rooftop air conditioner on our rv,13,500 model 714.it will come on but only makes a hmmm noise.must not be a breaker or fuse but was told it could be a start compasiter.any other...

If no air is coming out it must be the fan making humming noise wanted to start. It's either start capacitor or it's seized. Try turning the fan wheel if it turns while still spinning switch on the a/c, if it runs then definitely it is the start capacitor.

I have a wilderness 24ft rv with a colmen air.I have ceilind duck work.what I need e-mailed to me is how to change the motor on the roor.the shaft to the motor is bent.have new motor and fan

Changing the motor is not as difficult as you may think. From the roof, remove the outer shroud of the unit.

1. Remove the front evaporator cover (phillips screws along the edge).
2. Remove the condenser cover from the rear
3. With a 1/8" Allen Wrench, remove the condenser fan. CAUTION, be sure to pay particular attention to the way the fan turns.
4. With the same wrench, remove the blower fan. Again, pay attention to the orientation of the fan.
***If the fans are "stuck" to the shaft, it may be easier to remove the entire unit and place it on a bench to remove them. Secure the fan with a couple of blocks of wood and tap the end of the shaft with a punch and hammer.
5. Remove the nuts holding the fan motor to the separator plate (may have to pull back black foam pad to access. Remove the nut holding the fan to the support.
6. Cut the wires to the motor at the electrical connectors (located inside access panel on side of unit).
7. Remove the two brown wires from the capacitor
8. Re-install the new unit opposite of removal. Pay attention to where the fans were located on the shafts so that they do not rub when you put the unit back together.

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Lous Noise

It could be the blower fan is loose and needs to be tightened. If so, and you're handy, shouldn't be too difficult. Depends on the specific design.
