Question about Philips DVDR985 DVD Recorder
My Phillips dvdr985 tray will not open.
Under teh machine there is an opening near the tray. Look inside adn you will see a small white tab. Use a small tool to reach in their and push it to the other side. That will open the tray.

My SAMSUNG DVD/VCD/CD E235 got stacked. The unit got jammed because my baby boy pushed the tray inwards, with disc in place. Do the following having device unplugged. Unscrew and remove the metal top (x3). Unclip the front plastic cover. Unscrew DVD drive (x3) and disconnect it from the motherboard. Remove the DVD drive and turn it upside down. On its black case there are white protrusions from tray mechanism, within guides' grove. Slide them sidewards to release the tray. The belt powering tray mechanism has slipped, in my case. I put everything back in place and got the unit operational again.

For sure you already push the open button, most tray operated with a motor.check tray and gear, dont forget to check the supply power of the motor.try to check also the contact of the close and open button.
