Yes these saws run well if you can ever get one started. Very hard to crank and recoil mech is all plastic junk. I hate mine and will never buy another Poulan product.

Return it to the bix box store where you purchased it; get a refund. Find a chainsaw shop that sells and services their product.

Mccullugh MCC1840 18" chainsaw. Gas pouring out bottom of saw. How do I get to the gas tank?

The fuel tank is part of the rear handle support body.
The fuel line to the carburetor goes into the top of the tank.
You will also find a return line from the air purge primer bulb. More than likely, one of these lines has broken or cracked. Gain access to some of the lines be removing the recoil assembly.
1) Remove the Air Filter and Filter Cover
(which you have already done)
2) Remove the recoil assembly to gain access to the primer lines.

Recoil spring problem

I have the same chainsaw and have never had a problem with it.

If you have changed the starter rope or recoil spring in the past, it is important that you hold the new spring with needle nose pliers and install it correctly. Once the spring is in make sure wind the rope correctly-clockwise. If not the new spring will be damaged.

What's the trick to installing a flat coil spring into a chain saw recoiler without having it spring out

If you are having to recoil the spring after its come out. Roll it tightly with your hands then use vise grips on one side pinching it together then you can place it in the retainer/pulley. release

Can not start the ms180 chain saw, tried new plug, new gas, starting fluid etc. suggestions ran this morning, and now will not start. only been used twice

Remove the plug and then plug into plug wire. With the spark plug laying on top of engine pull the recoil a couple times and you should see spark at the plug. If all is good and there is the proper mixture of gas/oil ratio in saw then >>With trigger depressed fully and choke on, pull until it fires and then shove the choke in. /////If no spark and the saw is new, I would return to retailer.

Not that i know of, take the cover off and rewind by hand, use greese on the coil and pull the rope in and out, if the rope doesnt recoil you are going to need a new pull start assembly
